COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think you’ll be surprised...

Sampled @ RBBSG III. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, a touch of herbs, slightly sweet-bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Hmm it’s ok.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Hazy golden pale yellow pour with a big foamy white head. Ah yes! Belgian aromas galore. I get toasted biscuit, yeast, orange peel, lemonzest, and herbs. Medium to full body with all that yeast swimming around. The taste also has the same toasted malt character with a bit more of a lemon, orange, and citrus bite. Sweet aftertaste. Slightly lingering bitterness.

From 12oz bottle to shaker. Pour is a golden yellow with a thick white head. Nose is fruit, malty, slight hop. Taste is a light bodied bitter, hints of sweetness. Finishes smooth, weird but ok beer.

Bottle @ Cangrejera for Father´s Day: well balanced malt base with a great yeasty aroma & taste. Bread dough, banana, vanila in the taste. Keep that yeast alive! Food Pairing: Soft creamy cheese.

Poured light amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma of sweet spice, light malt and funk. Medium body, flavour much as the aroma, slightly saly.

The concept is interesting, and the beer is decent, but not particularly special. Mildly sweet, has a musky quality to it and a tinge of funk rounds out the caramel and fruit sweetness.

I poured this into a snifter as it seemed to be the most correct piece of glassware I could find. The appearance was a decent hazy orange to amber color with a one and a half finger white foamy head that lasts for about a minute before it gently died. There was some light lacing trying to grace the sides of the glass. The smell, actually kinda reminded me of a tripel as there was a decent amount of spicy to sweet Belgian spices to malts. I like it. The taste took those Belgian spices and gently allowed a nice sweet apple-flavoring take over. The aftertaste was slightly spicy and sweet and so was the finish. On the palate, it sat right at a medium on the body and showed a decent sessionability running about it. The carbonation seemed good for a Belgian Pale ale and was fairly decent to me. Overall, I say this was a decent Belgian Pale ale to me. It did everything it was supposed to, though there were some tripel-like qualities in this beer. I actually liked this one for the most part.

Bottle. Golden color. Tangerine and pricot in the aroma. Malty flavor. The slightest hint of salt. Fruity. Citrus and peach. Floral notes. Not unpleasant.
