COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think you’ll be surprised...

Farm ale like in flavor. Belgian farm ale is best way to describe this. I actually had an allergic reaction to this beer. Made my throat scratchy. Some belgian yeast do this... this would be the same for me. Nice in flavor and easy drinking for ABV.

(bottle - 22 oz) Been looking forward to this one for a while. Cloudy orange pour with a fizzy white head. Mild aroma but had definite hints of spice and yeast. Lightly fruity flavor with a spicy Belgian yeast taste and a light fruit sweetness at the finish. Really nice. I’d drink it again if I saw it.

Bottle. A friend of mine got me one of these because I have a beard. Some people think It’s gross, I think it’s genus. Poured pale golden with a white head. I didn’t get much aroma but it was a little sweet and funky. It had a bready feel and a slightly fruity sweetness to it. I would definitely drink this again.

Bomber. Pours a hazy gold color with a thin fizzy white head. Aromas of grain, Belgian yeast, and lemon. Taste follows suit with some dry/sourness on the finish. Not nearly as fun as the story.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a near clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains with a touch of light fruit and flora. Flavor is similar with sweet grains and light fruit backed by a bit of flora.

Oro con schiuma bianca evanescente. Note di mela banana speziato tutte molto confuso. La mela č chiaramente un difetto. Profumo di frumento. sembra una weiss. decisamente venuta male

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy medium straw colored body. The aroma is a little smoke, green olives in brine, aged creek water and old vegetables. Not awesome. The taste is younger creek water, mild lemon bitterness and a watery finish. The texture is softer with moderate carbonation. I would never drink this again. An idea worth enjoying as a homebrew experiment.

I think my wife wanted to throw up when I had her read the label on the back about the origin of this beer. Yes, inspired by head brewer’s beard and the "who-knows-what" that is found within. I feel like this isn’t a serious attempt of making anything great that will be around season after season. Plus what would they do once the guy with the beard moves on or passes on? Beer poured a medium, golden with little to no head. Aroma was musty, earthy with a bit of funk. Original sips were prickly on the lips due to medium+ carbonation. Taste reflected the aroma, on the funky side. It has a low IBU and wasn’t bitter at all. Viscosity was average. As I let the beer warm, it left more of a fruity aftertaste. Been there, tried that. Won’t be drinking this one again unless it was the only option.

Pours amber with a small head. Nose shows doughy Belgian yeast notes and bready wheat along with pear-like esters and banana. Equally refreshing flavours. More pear notes and doughy wheat along with some sweet malt and peppery notes. Amazingly refreshing. Could use a bit more carbonation.

Fruity banana aroma with hints if spicy citrus. Pours blonde with a white head. Light fruity notes upfront with bready malts following finishing with a spicy yeasty finish. A little light on the palate but it is pretty drinkable with a nice dry finish and lower abv. Pretty interesting beer considering the back story
