2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
I think my wife wanted to throw up when I had her read the label on the back about the origin of this beer. Yes, inspired by head brewer’s beard and the "who-knows-what" that is found within. I feel like this isn’t a serious attempt of making anything great that will be around season after season. Plus what would they do once the guy with the beard moves on or passes on?
Beer poured a medium, golden with little to no head. Aroma was musty, earthy with a bit of funk. Original sips were prickly on the lips due to medium+ carbonation. Taste reflected the aroma, on the funky side. It has a low IBU and wasn’t bitter at all. Viscosity was average. As I let the beer warm, it left more of a fruity aftertaste. Been there, tried that. Won’t be drinking this one again unless it was the only option.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co. Islington - London. Many thanks to Daniel! Pours clear gold with a white cream topping. The nose holds mellow rindy citrus, faint pine. Moderately sweet, with notes of dry white bread, biscuits, jammy citrus fruits. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet, sugary finish, with more doughy white bread, vague fruits. Simple, enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
In the realm of beer tasting there are a few beers that one should (must) try out of principle. Rogus Beard Beer is one of those special legend beers that palate wise earn an extra point. Beer brewed out of the yeast of a beard has a canabalistic and curious element. The beer is not overwhelming but heck it nevertheless is a legend of a beer.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home, 03/08/16. Mail order from that place in Lille. Sweet and subtle aroma. Floral. Fruit. Deep amber. Initial frothy white head retreats to rear guard action around the inside of the glass and a whisp across the top. Bitter sweet, with more of the former in the dry finish. Light and frothy mouthfeel. Again I’d go for subtle. I like it. One thing I would add - the Ratebeer profile refers to 5.6% ABV, however the bottle states 4.8%.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
July 2016 - Bottle share at Craft Beer Co Islington as ’Rogue Beard Beer’, picked up in London. The premise is that it’s made using yeast found in the brewer’s beard, though I’m not sure that justifies the extra ££££age! Pours clear orange, still, lightly sparkling, foamy off-white head. Aroma has some light banana ester, pear drops, tangerine. Body is a little foamy with soft carbonation. Taste is light biscuity malt, touch estery, not much going on, watery fruits, bready sugars. Has a nice balance between beard and beer. Glad I tried it to satisfy curiosity. (2.9)

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at Craft Islington, big thanks to Daniel. It pours clear amber with a thick white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, white bread, candy, soft sweetness, banana and stewed orange. The taste is crisp, bitter - sweet upfront, banana, candy, apple, barnyard, earth, straw, pear and melon with a sweet finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Fun to try, but overall its way too sweet for me.
