COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think you’ll be surprised...

I think my wife wanted to throw up when I had her read the label on the back about the origin of this beer. Yes, inspired by head brewer’s beard and the "who-knows-what" that is found within. I feel like this isn’t a serious attempt of making anything great that will be around season after season. Plus what would they do once the guy with the beard moves on or passes on? Beer poured a medium, golden with little to no head. Aroma was musty, earthy with a bit of funk. Original sips were prickly on the lips due to medium+ carbonation. Taste reflected the aroma, on the funky side. It has a low IBU and wasn’t bitter at all. Viscosity was average. As I let the beer warm, it left more of a fruity aftertaste. Been there, tried that. Won’t be drinking this one again unless it was the only option.

Bottle @tasting. Aroma is light fruits, some dusty malt, hint of malt. Flavour is dry and fruity, light malt note, slight hint of funk. Nice and clean but nothing.

Bottle from street market in Portland, thanks to Jules. Pours clear yellow/golden with a thin white head that fades extremely fast. Aroma is fruity, sugar and yeasty. Some citrus, but faint and some liquorice. Taste is bitter with some sweetness. Definitely tastes like a Belgian Ale but it’s a lot more watery. Weak bodied lets this down.

Butelka 650ml. ODCZUCIA : kto by pomyślał, że broda głównego piwowara Johna Maiera zawiera drożdże belgijskie ?

A great beer with a twist to its creation, soft pLate but has a real kick to it at the end. Sugary with a bit of fruit, yeasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to tderoeck! Retarded concept? Check. Bizarre & inexplicable brewery? Check. Dull style that the brewery isn’t known to do well? Check. Well I am ready! Golden, little head. Light grains in the nose, touch sugar, faint citrus, touch cookie. Taste is slightly sweet, white sugar, bread, grains, faint herbs, touch citrus. Light, very dull & meh overall. I am getting nothing here.

Imagine a pilsner with a little wild yeast. Not sour, but a little tart. Not a bad beer.

Sampled @ RBBSG III. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, a touch of herbs, slightly sweet-bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Hmm it’s ok.
