COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maierís beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does bread beer taste like? try it, we think youíll be surprised...

Pours a cloudy gold with a moderate white head. Nose is very yeasty. Tastes like a Belgian - sweet but with a nice, slight bitterness. To me, this would be better on a warm day. Although I am not a huge fan of Belgian ales because I do not really like the yeast strains they use, this is a pretty good beer.

(Bottle) Clear golden with good off-white head. Reasonable aroma, very pils like with grassy, slightly grainy, slightly metallic hops. Light body, well carbonated. Tastes good - thereís quite a sweet base to the flavour - light biscuity malt with some honey notes. Overlaid on that is the hops which give some pleasant balance and a rather harsh finish. I detect some banana esters perhaps suggesting wild yeast. Thereís some peppery spice in there too. Overall itís very drinkable, especially for a novelty beer.

Nice color, frothy, though nose is overly sweet, taste follows. Not terrible.

Glass at the airport. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A grainy fruity pils malt nose. Slightly sour, hay, pils malt. Sweet malty base. Decent.

Bottle. Golden in color with a small white head. Earthy, leather, herbs and green leafs in aroma. Lemon and mild stable too. Fruity citrus, mild grassyness and notes of spicy yeastyness in taste. Subtle funky and almost sour notes in finish. A bit thin, but decent though.

Clear deep orange beer, creamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy coriander touch, bit wild, fruity touch, melons, lots of vanana. MFok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, European hop character, bit metallic, dairy touch, little sour, citric. Aftertaste: yeasty, little fruity, dry bitterness, green banana, metallic, bitter yeast. Very drinkable, cool concept. :p

(Rogue Beard Beer) Bottle 650 ml at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 5.7% according to the importerís sticker on the bottle. Deep golden orange colour on the body, crystal clear, with a small and a bit thin head, off-white in colour, with okay retention. Light lacing around the glass. Aroma is fruity, with peaches and apricots, some sweet malts too, not different than other belgian ales. Taste is fruity too, the same peachy notes, apricots, wheat, an a nice refreshing sourness on the finish, nothing extreme but itís there. Mildly bitter aftertaste with good duration. Medium thin body, lively carbonation. Quite dry palate. Good beer but other than the story behind it, nothing too special.

Very dense & fine, just yellowish head, quite stable over hazy golden beer with very lively carbonation. Sourish nose, wild yeast indeed. Esters, as pineapple or citrus, but also vegetables (celery, rhubarb,...) Toasted, sweetish, recooled ghee, with a bitterish vegetable streak. Much less citrus or other fruity notes in the flavour, but the acidity remains - lactic, maybe treshold acetic. Warming up, bitterish (root)spices. Titillating, spritzy MF; feels highly attenuated, rather light body hence. Beard or not, though this is not at all a bad sour, its complexity pales compared to the simplest unfiltered gueuze.

Brown orange transparent beer with a weak head. Citric yeasty smell, subtle hoppy sweetness. Nicely balanced between bitterness and sourness, subtly sweet citric. Dry astringent finish. Salty.

Słaby aromat, nieco owocowości i to tyle. Finisz słodko - kwaśny, długi i przyjemny. Udane piwo, z silniejszym aromatem byłoby dużo lepsze.
