COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beard beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier’s beard. No need to freak out, brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same old growth beard since 1978 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard. What does beard beer taste like? try it, we think you’ll be surprised...

Pours a cloudy gold with a moderate white head. Nose is very yeasty. Tastes like a Belgian - sweet but with a nice, slight bitterness. To me, this would be better on a warm day. Although I am not a huge fan of Belgian ales because I do not really like the yeast strains they use, this is a pretty good beer.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Hazy pale golden coloured with a spicy lemon and citrus fruity flavour, malty and biscuit notes followed by vanilla and floral fruit and slight bitterness on the finish. Very Good!

sample at mondial de la bière 2015 - mtl. hazy very light golden with a small creamy white cap offering some retention and lacing. spicy toasted maltiness - very light buttery caramel, some surprising fruity lagering notes, clean moreover; woodsy, citrusy, some curious belgian angles though. average carbonation - bit of foam, light body - slightly watery; light woodsy astringent and fruity-grassy finish. interestingly not so boring. this MAY be a unique and perhaps a new strain, but it does not necessarily have a great future ahead - not transcendant that is, if not only symbolic..

66cl bottle. Hazy light brown pour with medium, thick head, lots of lacing. Aromas of stale bread, metal and earth. Taste is weak, low on bitterness, small sweetness. Low carbonation, oily palate. Aftertaste is malty and short. Not particulary good, but drinkable.

Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is light of citrus hops with some wild yeast aroma and some lemon. Flavor is similar with mostly the citrus and lemon coming out. I wasn’t sure what to think of this brew but I was somewhat pleased.
