4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2013 On tap at the Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a brownish black color with thick tan head that leaves great lacing. Smells of Chocolate, smoked malt, roasted malt, caramel and oak. Tastes of the same things in the smell with the smoked malts shining through the most. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy and chewy with good carbonation. Wow I was very impressed. Has a lot of good flavor going on. It looked amazing in the glass, one of the best looking beers I?ve ever had on tap. Hopefully they still have some on tap in February when I go back for my birthday.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Rogue Brewers on the Bay, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma of big chocolate notes, subtle wood, and bready notes. Flavour is very robust and round, with loads of dry whiskey barrels, wood, and a touch of cocoa. Pretty barrel-dominated, also with some intruding sweetness that kicks in later on in the palate. The barrel aging is done well, leaving a slightly boozy, whiskey-dominated, slightly sweet finish. Great stuff in small quantities.
