COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten years ago, John Maier introduced to the world his best friend and and beloved dog, Brewer. It was also the year he created this doppel winter ale. An intense, hoppy brew that will warm even the frostiest of toes. Third in the "Anniversary" series. ABV may vary between 7.5-9.0%

This capped and caged ceramic bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy with a frothy top light brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy typically carbonated brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma was malty and mild spice. . The flavor contained notes of hops mild spice and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of roasted, caramel and milk chocolate, moderate hop notes of herb and resin, light dough and leather for yeast, with hints of date, toffee, brown sugar and a little pepper. Head is small, creamy, off-white with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky dark red/brown. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter, then the extra long finish is lightly sweet and acidic, and heavily bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy, with a soft carbonation and a chalky, moderately astringent and very dry finish. Wow, what an assault of flavors. Malt dominant but well balanced by the hops. This is a first rate American Strong Ale.

Big sweet malt backbone with heavy brown sugar and even sugar cookie malt. Plum and raisin present with a strong toffee finish. A little too sweet.

Handbottled 2008 bomber from Enniskillen. Nose of floral and citrusy hops with toffee and brown sugar. Hazy cherry amber with a nicely lacing half finger beige head. Flavor is nicely bitter with caramel and toffee. Finish is bitter with some lingering toffee. Like a lighter barleywine!

2008 Bottle. Brown in color with a big tan head. Grainy malt aroma with a bit of malt character and some dank hops. Bitter earthy hop flavor with some sweet malt and a lingering bitter finish. Aroma is mostly malt and the flavor has a ton of hops. Very deceptive and well played, Rogue.

15ht anniversary bomber from December 2003 thanks to Eric. Pours a dark brown color with a small brown head. The aroma was awesome; heavy citrus hops, sweeter malt notes, like a great barely wine. The flavor is quite hoppy, especially since it is 6 years old. Mellow caramel malts and light fruits. Nice.

Comes out of the tap a dark coffee-brown with a fairly thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is surprisingly hoppy and has a malty undertone, as well as a hint of molasses. Flavor is mainly hoppy and has touches of malt and caramel, as well as a whisper of sweetness. Smooth texture has a jazzy, fizzy edge.

Color is a rich chocolaty brown with a thick and persistent head. The very hoppy aroma has smoky hints and a touch of coffee. Flavor is strongly hoppy and rather evergreen-ish, rather like drinking a pine tree; it is rich and satisfying, nice and bitter, with a trace of smokiness and a hint of burnt coffee. Strongly recommended to anybody who enjoys both hoppy beers and stouts/porters.
