COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten years ago, John Maier introduced to the world his best friend and and beloved dog, Brewer. It was also the year he created this doppel winter ale. An intense, hoppy brew that will warm even the frostiest of toes. Third in the "Anniversary" series. ABV may vary between 7.5-9.0%

A very nice beer- I love the 2008 commemorative ceramic bottle! I’m still new to rating and not a huge fan of hoppy beers, but of the ones I’ve had I do like this one. Sweet aroma, a little malty. A dark amber with a thick light brown head. a little Bitter on flavor but textbook to a strong ale. Slightly thin palate. Overall I think I like it. Nice.

On cask and dry hopped at the Blind Tiger. Pours dark brownish red with a fluffy off white head. Chocolate malt aroma with a little bitter hop in it. Surprised by the lack of hops in the aroma, I was blown away with the hops in the taste! Big malty body with spicy bitter hops, really nice. Finishes bitter and tasty, very much a Rogue beer.

2008 commemorative ceramic bottle. Pours a deep cedar with a dense and long lasting light brown head and enough lacing to replace the curtains at the Kennedy Center. Sweet malty aroma with hints of spice. Complex but accessable flavors of fruit (figs, apple), caramel, milk chocolate and a pinch of cinammin all carried on a wide malty backbone. The fruity flavors intensify a bit as the beer warms and some peppery alcohol joins in as well. Creamy texture and a long sweet finish with just a mild smack of hops at the very end. Another Rogue winner.

Draft at the brewery bar in Newport. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of hops. The flavor is sweet malty wtih strong notes of hops and caramel, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish.

This dark brown ale poured with a thin tan head. The flavor is dominated by chocolate malt and there is a somewhat bitter finish. This is a very nice carbonated drink.

750ml bottle; RBAle 2008. Comes with a dog tag. A hazy dark mahogany color with multifinger beige/tan head. Sort of rocky. Aroma is hop. Resin hop. Head is starting to lace. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is resin hop. I know there is some malt down below, and it seems very roasted, but the hop is all over this one. That fits the 106.9 IBU. Finish is robust, and the malt is a little more present. This is a really super ale.

Cask at Barcade. For some reason they’d labeled it as Rogue Brewer Doppelbock, I think they got confused where it said "doppel". It wasn’t a doppelbock at all, and, reading the ratings, this is definitely what I had.

Cask pours with tons of head, creamy as hell, like its straight out of a nitro tap. Rather soft mouthfeel, with lots of green hops in both aroma and flavor. Bitter but not fruity, the hops seem more like a mix of German and American varieties. A nice, chocolately roast underlies the hops, though I don’t get much from the yeast or spices. A nice beer.

2008 vintage - 1 pt. 10 fl. oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a slightly tan head. Aroma: Very hoppy with some herbal notes. Flavor: Hoppy, with a hint of raisins and herbs. This is very rich, so I wouldn’t drink it every day, but it is none the less enjoyable.
