COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

brutal bitter esb on tap at papago 7/1/10. hazy dull copper color with a raw almond tinted off white head. oddly the same color as the big round table at pap... very floral aroma followed by orange, grapefruit, faint pine, wood and dust. the flavor is heavy on the grapefruit and pale malt... it’s not sweet until it warms. (i’d be hard pressed to finish off a bomber of it then). there is some bitterness in the finnish which carries over to the aftertaste where it is met by some spiciness. crisp mouth feel with a medium body. easy drinking until it warms a bit. 8/4/7/4/14/3.7

Bottle at a tasting on 17th Dec. Pours quite pale, with a small white head. Light citrus and grass aromas. Taste is fairly mellow, and i agree more of an ESB than an IPA, still quite drinkable.

Big bottle, trade with Craig. Hazy golden body. Tiny, beige patches on the surface. Powerful smell of fruity hops. Hoppy flavour with juicy fruits, citrus shells, and a touch of spices. Sharpe bitter end. Foamy in the mouth. Medium bodied. Pleasing IPA (hotel room, Edinburgh 29.11.2010

good aroma of citrus/grassiness and a honey/molasses maltiness..cloudy orange brown creamy but fading head medium lacing..dont really get the name because its well blended in the taste and not overpowering in either direction..mouthfeel is smooth and medium bodied, aftertaste lasts a few seconds carbonation rather light..good session brew that once again is misnamed i would like a bit more hoppiness but thats just me

very light yellow in colour. nose has a waft of lemon. Is really more drinkable than the "brutal’ I was expecting. As others have mentioned, close to a good esb or decent Pale. A little citric feel but light enough and great drinking.

22 oz bottle (Brutal IPA). Pours a fantastic cloudy orange. Decent head. Aroma is light citrus. Taste is also light citrus with slight acidity. Smooth. Good beer.

Bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Hazy light nougat body, big creamy head. Nose is floral, with hints of pine and molasses. Taste is grassy hops, sweet malts and hints of earth and autumn leaves. Well balanced. Good beer, but could be a touch more original if you ask me.

Bright citrus hop aroma on the nose. Sharp bitterness at the start of the palate that blends well into a smooth malty finish. Seems like an ESB that leans towards an IPA in style.
