COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Nice grapefruit hoppiness in the aroma translates well into the flavor. Great aftertaste. Minimal malts. Lovely unfiltered orangy body. Not brutal, just a good bitter.

Bottled, 0.65ltr. Almost clear, golden beer with an off-white head. Lots of hops in the aroma, which don’t surprise me for a beer of 59 IBU’s. There’s also sugar, pinecones and some citrus. The flavor is a bit one-tracked, with mostly hops, but citrus and sweetness was also present. It feels lightly sticky and sweet in the mouth, quite full-bodied. Long finish with lots of hops. A beer I won’t be refusing to sample again. (060704)

22 oz bottle-pours a ceamy offwhite head that laces with cloudy orange/copper color. Aroma is crisp hops. Taste is far from just crisp hops. It’s also smokey caramel malt that doesn’t show up in the aroma, but also doesn’t come across as that well balanced either. Good carbonation. Good, but not great beer.

Amber colour, small white head. Strong smell of flowery hops, like a trip to a cornfield next to a field with wild flowers. The taste has some sweet mallts, almost honey. It finished with some dry bitter hops. Lovely. But not at all harsh.

Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours a great amber with a slight haze. Fine, creamy, white head. Good duration. Aroma is hoppy, lots of pine and grapefruit. Some good, clean maltiness as well. Medium carbonation, fine creaminess. Flavour has a very nice malt base, some sharpish hops. Relatively bitter, some caramel and a good, lasting flavour of pine and fruity hops. Nice.
