COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Poured a hazy amber body with a nice head. Aroma is dominated by grapefruit and hops. Taste is like the aroma. Nice brew.

Lightly hazy orange pour with a big foamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, lemon, hops and a touch of sour apple. Nice first flavor of sweet malt giving away to citrus hops. Long bitter finish, with a touch of garden-hose water flavor. Other than that, a good hoppy brew.

Bomber from the LCBO (bless you), served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Hazy orange-amber, moderate off-white foam. Aroma: Caramel/toffee sweetness, a good dose of citrus/pine hops, tropical fruit and berry esters. Palate: Medium body, medium-full quasi-effervescence, slick. Flav.: Lots of big citrus/pine hops, rye bread crust, some of the tropical fruits, burnt sugar, a bit of dough/yeast; dry with a fairly nice bitter bite.

Lovely stuff. I hope the LCBO will stock more quality American craft brews.

650ml bottle:
Appearance: Pours a medium gold that is hazy with nice white head and no lace.
Aroma: Citrus with some banana and pine.
Taste: Lots of citrus and pine flavors. Some sweetness coming from the malt.
This is a real nice beer. Pretty hoppy for a bitter, which is good for me.....

stegosaurus (1882) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2005
appears hazy amber, with a nice head, smells great very spicey, the taste almost like lemon iced tea, good hops, somewhat bitter, very drinkable, and truely brutal.

Masive hops overload, while maintaining a caramelly taste. Bitter to no end, but enjoyable and not done in a gimmicky sort of fashion, just a beer for the hopheads. Cascade all day long!

Prett good tastes like a caramely IPA but with an increase in bitterness. My only complaint is how harsh it is on the throat and palate which makes it hard to drink.
