4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JesseM (918) - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 10, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2010 650ml bomber from the LCBO (WHAT?!?!?!? American craft-brews at the LCBO?!!?!??!). Pours a hazy orange colour, with a very large and sticky beige-white head. Aroma: Hops, hops, hoppyness, with a tiny but evident caramalt backbone. Flavour: Hops, hoppyness, hop flavour, lots of hop presence, dry hops, wet hops, smooth, sweet, caramel. Hops. This is a pretty tasty brew, I must admit. Awesome fruity elements, peach, tangerine and subtle mango featuring most prominently. I f***ing love peach flavour in my hoppy brews. I wonder how many times I can say hops in one rating. I really like this one, and am downright startled that it’s available at the LCBO. Hops. I can’t wait for the Dead Guy to show up! Hops. I really love the Vienna malts in this one! Hop shortage. They add a nice toffee-biscuity character to the taste that I tend to love in beer. Hops. Hip Hops.

Poured a beautiful orange. Very cloudy. Small head with very fine lacing. Taste wasn’t as "Brutal" or "Bitter" as I expected, but surprisingly tasty. I finished the glass before I even realized it. I highly recommend this ale and will be purchasing it again sooner than later.

Not quiet an IPA but close, good bitter but nothing lip-smacking or tough to drink. Finishes very clean.

This is from a 22oz bomber, which upon opening spewed like I had shaken the bottle, but it had been sitting for a few days. The rising foam had a metallic taste from the bottle. Contrary to the start, the rest of the beer was very enjoyable. It poured a hazy rust with two fingers of white foam that went away after about 30 seconds. I love the opaque color. Aroma reminds me of a candied fruit that I tried one Christmas, but I dont know what it is, certainly citrusy. There is an up front burnt malty taste, a bit of coffee, but that dissipates quickly and is replaced by a wonderful hoppy bitterness that is long lasting. This beer really hit the spot.

I dont know how rogue can pump out so many styles at such a high quality, but this is another example of an english style that an american micro has conquered...

Bottle. I knew I would love this beer as soon as I poured it. Lively carbonation and poured a cloudy golden amber colour. Aroma of hops greeted me immediately with some citrus too. The taste was bitter right from the start, yet not too much so...medium body with a creamy texture. Loved the active carbonation. Surprise, a bitter finish and very satisfying from start to finish..an excellent beer overall.
