Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2015 35.5cl bottle at Beer is Food, Singapore on 04/04/15. Cloudy orange colour, medium carbonation with a nice white head. Sweet aroma if citrus and pine. Oily mouth feel, bittersweet, citrus first followed by pine / hops. Not the best IPA I have had.

Look: pours a light gold. Slight haze. Bright white head. Smell: grapefruit. Orange. Taste: grapefruit. Lemon. Orange. Feel: extremely dry. Heavy bitterness. Thin mouth feel. Leaves a thick film on the mouth. Overall: ok beer. Have to like bitter. First drank: home 3/31/15 Vintage:

Murky orange pour with the healthy white head. Piney aroma. Front end taste has lots of resin and citrus flavors, with a bitter aftertaste. I would buy this until the end of time.

hazy. Light grainy malty, bit autumny leafy pine woodsly nose. Sour oranges, real bitter, almost astringent finish. Lots of flavour. Not that smooth though. Dark caramel, bitter herby. Had better, drinkable still.

Pours orange with white lacing. Big hops aroma with citrus. The hops are so well crafted, belies the name. Nice finish

Draught @ NYC Craft Ber Festival. Cloudy pale yellow with small off-white foamy head, doughy aroma, citrus peel taste, low carbonation, long hoppy finish. Not a great IPA.

Murky orange beer with little off-white head. Aroma and flavor have cream fudge, caramel, resin, peach and some catpee. Does not seem very fresh. Palate is full with moderate carbonation. Finish has quite heavy bitterness. Aftertaste is caramelly and fruity with stinging catpee like bitter taste. I’m sure this would be better when it was fresh.

Hazy orange body, medium sized white head, and soapy lacing. Papaya, grapefruit, orange rind, mild sweet perfumey malts. Medium bodied with moderate to gentle carbonation, semi-dry throughout, moderate bitterness, clean finish.
