Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Bottle. Pours a great amber with a slight haze. Fine, creamy, white head. Good duration. Aroma is hoppy, lots of pine and grapefruit. Some good, clean maltiness as well. Medium carbonation, fine creaminess. Flavor has a very nice malt base, some sharpish hops. Relatively bitter, some caramel and a good, lasting flavor of pine and fruity hops. Nice.

I love Rogue brewery and many of their beers. This is just ok. Nothing to really dislike, but nothing that will blow you away either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer was very mellow for an IPA it poured light and had a very light head. The beer lacked on that final IPA hoppy notes and didn't carry well through the pallet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle gold with a off white head. Aromas of pine and sweet citrus. Taste is crisp with overtones of citrus caramel and a nice hop finish.

Pours a cloudy pumpkin/bronze with an off white head and good lacing. Cardboard, fruit, floral, citrus aroma. Malty, bready, caramel, hard candy sweetness, bitter finish, citrus, fresh flower. Pretty tasty. Would like to try it fresh.

Pours a crystal clear gold with a mild white head. Moderate level of hop aroma which is vagely citrusy and floral with notes of pine. The malt charicter on the tongue is bready. The mid palate brings the hops with more pine and citrus. The finish is of sugar syrup and pine with a lingering bitterness and slightly astringent mouthfeel. This is an easy drinking, every day IPA.

Crisp and malty, thoroughly enjoyable brew. Gives a nice fruit flavour and the hop bits through. It was nowhere near as "brutal" as I was expecting, so from that point, I was a bit disappointed, but it was delicious.

35.5cl bottle at Beer is Food, Singapore on 04/04/15. Cloudy orange colour, medium carbonation with a nice white head. Sweet aroma if citrus and pine. Oily mouth feel, bittersweet, citrus first followed by pine / hops.
