COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Keg at Bierhaus. Pours a flat hazy amber gold with thin clinging head but nice lacing. Toffee, tea on nose. Faint bitterness and mainly toffee in the taste. Not too dry, sweet smooth finish. Sweet and syrupy, barely tastes like an IPA. Poor enough.

On tap at Rogue Hall in Eugene. Very disappointed. Flat, bland, lacking flavor. No hop flavor up front or finish. Another Rogue beer. That is...over priced and full of themselves and doesn’t hold a match to other NW beers.

Pours cloudy light orange. Two finger head, decent lacing. Aroma floral, grassy, pine. Taste is sweet, lightly bitter and sort of buttery. Medium body, creamy. Finish sweet spruce, lightly bitter. I wouldn’t call this and IPA, more like an ESB.

from tap. Very drinkable IPa, but also very simple and far from complex. Citrus, hops, grapefruit. Not really superbitter. Balanced but nothing brutal about this beer. OK but very average.

From tap @ BBF 2014. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Flowery, hoppy, fruity, caramel aroma. Moderate biiterness that starts right from the first sip, hoppy, fresh mountain air. Light honey aftertaste.
