Draught at the Rogue Bar in downtown Portland, OR on 23 May 2013. Poured a cloudy ruby colour with a thin halo of off white head. Aroma of spruce, citrus and crusty bread. Initial flavours of molasses and burnt sugar turn to bitter pine-like hops. Finish is resin, toasted malt and dry grain.

Rated on 3-13-2010 (Bottle) This bottled beer pours a large fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, hazy orange body with a red tint, visible carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, citrus, and grapefruit hops. The taste mimics the aroma. The palate is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer has a lingering hop aftertaste and this beer is one for hopheads.

In bottiglia. Aroma di erbaceo, erba appena tagliata, caramello. Al palato buno corpo, quasi oleoso, amaro da luppolo un pň sbilanciato.

Bottle from Mane Liquor Bar and Grill. Pours golden brown with a heavy finger of lacing. Big burnt caramel aroma, pine, orange peel. Pretty rich malt aroma. Flavours are big caramel biscuit malts, pine needles, resin, bit of citrus. Huge bitterness and chewy mouthfeel. Pretty surprised, fucking solid from rogue.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Created a thick frothy layer of foam head while the liquid was a tea brown hue. My nose detected a sweet and rich butter scotch scent which was backed behind a moderate amount of signature Rogue hops. The flavor is subdued and somehow tasting very bland with the exception of some bready malt and bitter hops. This is an alright ale and all, but I think it’s too plain and simple unless you prefer your IPA’s to taste like that. Did however, enjoy the body of this beer though.

From pint bottle. Pours a slightly hazy russet red with some lighter highlights and a persisting off-white head. Fine carbonation. Aromas of pine needles, lemon, raisins, fresh apple, sweet biscuits and gentle spice. Taste is soft fruit at the front before a firm pine resin & lemon zest bitterness emerges. That falls away leaving sweet malt and some cocoa powder with a bit of spice (nutmeg?). Medium bodied and well rounded. Really good stuff.

Hazy red/amber, with a frothy white head sticking to the sides of the glass. Aroma is citrus and some pine with mild biscuit malt in the background. The flavor is a direct hit of citrus rind complimented with spiciness. The malt comes across as biscuit and toffee. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Overall ok, thought it was lacking hop aroma. Might not have been the freshest bottle.
