3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very very decent amber. Wonderflly fruity and hoppy aroma. Bitter flavor and nice finish. A great beer all around, I really like the way Rogue does amber ales. Recommend this one!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Crisp chunky hazy copper and amber coloured body with a thinnish fast-dying tan head. Aroma of strong grapefruit and cascade-y hops with some nuts, alcohol and thick malt to this. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive citrusy and piney hops dominate the taste with a good malt backbone and a decent amount of bitterness - nice! Aftertaste shows a good depth with hop flavours ranging and the malt, alcohol and light spices noticeable. Overeall, a pretty good beer, even though it is from Rogue, it’s a bit better than anything else from the Brewery in my opinion. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, D.C. on 07-March-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 17-March-2009.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2009 Sweet red pour with moderate head and lacing. Aroma was grapefruity and Cascadey (woo!) . Hop bitterness was in abundance but was at least partially stemmed by the malts. Not my cuppa though.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a thick head of good duration, with attractive lacing, over a reddish gold body.....nose of pine citrus, bread....tastes initially of mild sweet malts then grapefruit and piney tones take over and linger....mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. The hop back bone is the dominant feature of this nice ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly hay amber-brown with a thin but lasting layer of foam and nice lacing. Alcohol present in the aroma, dark caramel malt, metallic hops. Sweet and bitter, very well balanced, dark caramel malting & fruitiness but not cloying as more bitter than oily hops ring in the finish, which is dry and lingering. Good carbonation. Very, very tasty. Surprisingly strong for 6% - well balanced & executed.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Grapefruit, orange and pine-like spiciness in the nose with strong underlying malt sweetness. Hazy golden tan body is topped by a fluffy white head that lasts well and coats the sides of the glass with lacing. Strong caramel and toasty malt character balances pronounced bitterness with grapefruit, pine and earthy hop flavours. Some fruity esters in the aftertaste. Medium body is quite dry with fairly strong carbonation that prickles the tongue. Becomes more expressive as it warms. Comes across as an Imperial ESB. Easily though perhaps dangerously drinkable. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at the Brewery Creek in Mar-09.
