Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium brown with an average (1-2 finger) light tan creamy head that lasted a good while, reducing to a thick residue and had nice sheets of lacing. The aroma was a tad sweet with a grain malt, pine and citrus hops and a sweaty yeast, with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit & orange) and a mild fruity ester in that rested in the background. The taste malty sweet with a big dose of caramel and a mild fruity presence in the beginning, then slowly progressed into a mildly hoppy taste with a bitter citrus peel finish. The flavor was short in duration with a mild bitter-sweet citrus taste left behind. Mouthfeel was right between light and medium in body with a dry creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Overall a very impressive brew with a great caramel sweetness which offset the hops extremely well...

Pours perfectly with a nice brown-orange head that sticks around for a lengthy period of time on top of a very attractive foggy brown body. Aroma is strong hoppiness with a hint of malts, simple but appetizing. Flavour is a highly tasty hops and malt mix with a dry finish; however I found the palate a little too watery. Lots of good things going on in this beer, it’s getting close to perfection.

Bottle from bierkompass.de. Hazy amber colored beer with huge off-white head. strong citrus and floral hoppy aroma with caramel. Taste, starts sweet malty and caramel, than continues with hoppy bitterness. Strong hoppy bitter finish. Well balanced, tasty beer.

Bottle. Dark copper red with tan head. I smell caramel over any hops. My guess is old. This is a meh beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Red/rust color with a lot of head and just a ton of lace. There is a lot of malt in the aroma and taste. It’s billed as an IPA, but it reminds me of something like a slightly dialed back and then rehopped Arrogant Bastard. I picked up on caramel and grainy malt, and just a bit of candied fruit in the finish. It has that mildly boozy burn that makes Arrogant Bastard so good, and that’s a good thing. I’ll buy this again.

The initial floral aroma quickly brings malty notes of strong chocolate-y malt. Lovely and complex, citrus hops being chased through the mouth by rich, slight-burnt, very morish red ale malt characters. Delicious.

A nice bitter ipa, with a nice body. Hint of piney hops in the aftertaste. Might meet digs standards

Medium, yellow head over veiled, lively carbonated foxy-amber ale. Piney & fruity USA hops; caramelsyrup, fruitcake, bit of ureum. Smells sweet-syrupy, thick. Taste is quite bitter; resiny with a dry oatwafer background, rather than fruity and cake. MF is less full-bodied and resinous than the nose suggested. Hopoils abundant, with an oily, gluey resinflavour and -feel. Orangejam, orangerind, walnutpeel, but also streaks of spirit: apricotbrandy or even Mandarine Napoléon, if much less sweet. Well-carbonated. Bit unidimensional, but it could make the base of a truly great Barley Wine.

A nice clear dark amber body with a white head that had good retention and nice lace. There was a little bit of sediment at the bottom that slowly added an opaque quality to it. Aroma had some nice caramel malts and a decent hop profile. Hops seemed to favor the grapefruit spectrum of hops, but there was a nice floral presence. Flavor subtly sweet and nice and bitter. Hops seemed more balanced. The grapefruit hops were slightly stronger than the bitter hops and the floral hops, but not as much as the aroma indicated. Finish was smooth and slightly dry. Slightly heavy mouth feel.
