COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue’s Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole’ black and tan!

Bomber. Aroma is not too strong, but faint peppers. Copper color, clear, light head. Pepper taste comes out strong in the mouth but borders on a burnt flavor which isn’t very pleasant that carries into the finish.

Amber pour. White head. My first spicy beer...great smoky nose, with a spiciness and warmth that fills the mouth and throat. A very memorable beer.

From notes: Bottled @ Beer Temple. Golden color. Aroma’s are caramel, smokey, slightly bitter. Flavor is medium bitter with hot spiciness throughout. Light body. Finishes with more spiciness, warming.

This comes from the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The color is copper-amber with some head and a slight haze. The aroma is mostly malts with a slight sweeter note and clean hops. The body is creamy and moderate. It is the taste that is entirely unique and I am not so sure if I care for it. There is definitely a peppery sensation overpowering the sweet malts. But I knew going into it that it would be unique and that certainly describes it.

Bottle from Nina’s. Pours a dark golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is quite hoppy with peach, pineapple, caramel and barley. Chipotle coming through flavour-wise with a little chilli bite, caramel, pine, pineapple, mango and barley. Lovely long chilli finish although it was a bit too sweet for me. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Pours amber in color. Aroma is of pepper, spice, malt, and smoke. Flavor has a big smoked malt taste, with some olive juices, pepper, and wood chips. Leaves a smoked pepper finish. This one could leave som heartburn
