COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue’s Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole’ black and tan!

22 oz. bottle from a shaker. Dark orangish brown pour...really pretty beer. Aroma has nice sweet malts, reminiscent of a brown ale, and some definite pepper in the finish. Taste is a great brown ale up front which really becomes warming in the finish. Well balanced spice beer!

Poured from a 22oz bottle. Pours a great dark golden amber color. Great classic ale aroma with some hints of pepper. Chipotle flavor strong and evident from start to finish. Lighter body than I expected, nearly no hints of alcohol. A very drinkable beer which is a nice compliment to the pepper flavor. Like most Rogue beers this one is unique. Not an all the time beer but ahold one and a must try

The name is very misleading. First of all this beer has no hot spicy flavor to it. Even though they added chipotle peppers to it the heat is not apparent. The smokiness is. To sum it up. It tastes like a richer fuller Dead Guy Ale with a slight smokey element. I wish they would do an imperial version of this. Excellent!

Clear copperish amber, with a small but lasting head with great lacing. Nice spicy earthy aroma of roasted cipotle peppers, and dirty malts (in a good way), with some subtle toffee. Flavor is smooth and mild. Nice roasty chipotle tones on the tongue, along with slight malty sweetness, a bit of toffee, and mild bitterness towards the end alongside some pretty quiet heat spice. Not shabby, just not a mind blower.

Bottled sample. Dark gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of woodsmoke and smoky chipotle peppers. Flavours are pretty much all chipotle, with perhaps a hint of crisp pale malt and dried leaves in the backgroud. The peppery heat makes the body seem thin. This one definitely could have used some extra malt flavours to balance things out. It’s kind of a shame, as I really love chipotles in food.

Pours opaque amber with a tight bubble off white head. The aromas of this beer are weak and leave a lot to be desired. If you like smokey flavors you will love this it is one of the most unique beers I have tasted starts out like any amber beer you have had then hits you upside the head with smoke and pepper flavors.very cool beer but could only drink 1 maybe 2 :).

Light reddish orange. Minimal to no head. Much campfire with just a touch of pepper. Not much else...

Bottle. There’s a lot of taste here, but it’s a taste I don’t enjoy in beer. Hot peppers belong in Bobby Flay’s food, not beer.
