COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue’s Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole’ black and tan!

Pours amber with an offwhite head. Smoke and bacon, and a tiny spicy sub-note. I probably wouldn’t have detected it if I didn’t know this was a chipotle beer though, which is fine, because I don’t like spicy stuff that much. Decent brew.

Keg. Honey coloured with a thin white scum. Nose is honey sweet with a firey pepper. Taste is thin, a light lemon then a hit of pepper/paprika. A bit "meaty", but a but overly thin to excite. Burny, but not hot...

Enjoyed in glass poured from a 650ml bottle. Hint of spice, more akin to smoked paprika... or chipotle:) Some hops in there. It’s a drinkable ale. Goes well with bbq. Got better halfway through the glass... the 2nd. Something fun & different. It works. My 100th rating. Didn’t think it would take me this long. I like the journal aspect of ratebeer. Great work! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy copper colour with a short lasting white head. Light aromas of chipotle peppers and caramel. Not much else to say here. Flavours bring big, smokey chipotle up front which blends to salted caramels, and a light citrusy note. The smokiness lingers well into the off-sweet finish. Medium bodied. The beer is more smoke beer than chili beer with only the slightest hint of spice managing to build up by the bottom of the bottle.

22 Oz bottle pour split. Pours a clear copper color with a thin head. Orange fruit, and hops aroma. Drinks nice, with some good hop character and a very mild pepper spice. Pretty good pepper beer. Enjoyed it.

This was the 2nd beer of the night. It cost $6.50 at the local grocery store. Cheers!

Clear amber color with a minimal head. Malt forward with some green bell pepper on the nose. Average carbonation and medium-body. Taste is similar with a smoked taste and some mild hop bitterness with the pepper just kind of there. It doesn’t pack much of a punch as far as heat goes. Dry peppery finish.

Smokey flavor. Subtle gentle jalapeno. Crisp. Malty, but not sweet. This would go great with jalapeno crunchers. Pretty tasty.

Draught at CBM. Fun green pepper mouthfeel and smokey notes but the body is quite heavy, wouldn’t drink a full pint for sure. Good for meaty food pairing.

Não era exatamente o que esperava, mas até que foi uma boa experiência. Pensava em algo mais picante e surpreendente.

On the nose: nothing special but give it a few inhales and you’ll feel the pepper. Initial palate: tastes like novacaine. After a few mins tastes like an overhyped burrito from Chipotle. On the ropes with this, it’s dissapointing compared to the Sriracha beer they have. Overall not a winner
