Beerman6686 (782), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2008 Poured a cloudy amber color with an off white head. Aroma is a bit spicey but not overpowering and some hops. Flavor is mainly of a pale ale with a bit of spiceness in the finish
Slipstream (400), USA Oct 13, 2008 Now this one was a lot of fun! I can see that some people had a little trouble dealing with this stuff, and it is an oddball brew, but I liked it - so thumbs up from this rater. I had it on tap. The soapy aroma is not too enticing. Brass color. The flavor is dominated by smoked chili peppers, plus a little leather. It is a little risky, but I think it works out well. Thanks to Rogue for another daring ale. BeerBunker (106), Burbank, Illinois, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a reddish brown, with a white head. Aroma is of spice, peppers, malt, and meats. Not very inviting. Taste is peppers, cheap canned chili, and malt. Burning aftertaste. I don’t normally like my beer to destroy my throat with heat. 22oz is way too much of this beer to have to drink. ditmier (230), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 5, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours brown with a light head, I just can’t get my head around this beer, didn’t like it years ago, still don’t, aroma is okay, smokey, almost chemically smokey...flavour is like old bandaids, I love beer and I love spice, but this is a beer one drinks to experience, not to enjoy.... Butters (427), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 27, 2008 Caveat: this beer gave me horrible hartburn. So even though, I ’m sure it’s a good beer for the style, I just couldn’t give it high marks in the overall, mainly cause i couldn’t finish the bottle. Pours a nice clear amber with decent head. Aroma is slightly spicy. Flavor is not overbearingly hot, it’s the finish. A fiery lava flow in the back of the throat. Not a beer for me. markwise (287), Satellite of Love, Florida, USA Sep 23, 2008 Pour courtesy of kiefdog. Aroma is very smokey, earthy, and and cuminy with notes of chili pepper. Flavor is band-aid with hot sauce. Cannot imagine more than a small amount in one sitting, but it makes a great fondue. A bit of water in the flavor, too.
