Ebony in color with a rich creamy head. The mellow flavor of oats, chocolate malts, and real chocolate are balanced perfectly with the right amount of hops for a bittersweet finish. Chocolate Stout is brewed with 10 ingredients: Northwest Harrington and Klages, Crystal 135-165 and Beeston Chocolate Malts, Cascade Hops, Rolled Oats and Roasted Barley, Natural Chocolate Flavor, Free Range Coastal Waters and PacMan Yeast.

Pours black with a 3-finger tan head that dissipates fairly quickly that leaves lots of lacing. You can smell the 'imported chocolate' right off the bat with some malts & hops. The taste is to be expected. Lots of chocolate! Just a slight bitter aftertaste, which is from the various hops. The "9 ingredients: 2-Row, C-120 & Chocolate Malts, Cascade Hops, Rolled Oats, Roasted Barley, Chocolate, Free Range Coastal Water and Pacman Yeast" is written on the right side of the bottle. If you like chocolate stouts that is loaded with taste, then this is for you. First 'Rogue 'that I have had and they make several different types. Overall a enjoyable brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells like milk chocolate candy (M&M’s). Small head, but nice rings of light brown lacing. Tastes more roasty than I anticipated. Fairly bitter finish. Some acid. Nice beer; not amazing. Not understanding the high overall rate.

Aroma is acidic. Metallic. A hint of chocolate. Oatmeal. Lighter. Sweet Looks fine. Tan head. Black. Taste is very sweet like aspartame note. Chocolate on the finish. Like a milk chocolate. Acidic on the finish. Decently balanced but so dry. Hops hops hops on the finish. Palate is.... Not so good. Super dry and lingering hops on the finish. It’s a chocolate stout... Shouldn’t be hops on the finish. Medium light body. This is beer is ok.... The taste is good but the palate is rough. The hops on the finish are really not what I’m looking for in a chocolate stout. Had this in the same sitting as a founders breakfast and that was def better.

Big bottle, served in TeKu. Pours gently with thick, creamy and beige head. Aroma is toffee, some vanilla, chocolate and subtle coffee. Very creamy and pleasant. Taste is quite dry with lots of chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee, oily texture. I think more sweetness would correspond well with soft mouthfeel, otherwise beer seems a little bit too dry for me. Anyway, its another great beer from Rogue, extremely enjoyable.

Pretty good, not my favourite. I miss a nice body but it’s really drinkeble and enjoyable. I like the roasted barley and the chocolat. Rogue rules but this ain’t my cup of tea.

Shared at my Summer Plunder Tasting by Kery. A dark cola pour which is black with ruby highlights. 5% great cocoa nib aroma very smooth. Medium bodied with a bitter dark cacao flavor and some sweet vanilla notes. A nice solid chocolate stout.

Totally black with thick beige head. Nice lacing. Strong aroma of sweet chocolate, hint of vanilla and mocha. Good at nose, but taste is even better! Lots of chocolate, coffee with milk and vanilla background. Texture is oily. Full body. Low carbonation. Awesome stout, one of the best I’ve drank.
