FlssmrBrewAlum (204), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2008 22 oz Bomber from Sam’s Wine (South Loop, Chicago, IL). Pours a deep brown, almost black, with very little light coming through with a big bubbly brown coca-cola-esque head that is definitely staying around. Aromas are sweet creamy chocolate with almost a hot chocolate lure. Initial is smooth, a medium bodied brew that slowly slides into chocolate creamy heaven. Finish sneaks in a touch of hoppy bitterness, stout dryness, and roasted malts. Very inviting brew that leaves a very enjoyable aftertaste and could be a wonderful gateway brew to lure people in (While still being a special, remarkable brew on its own). Great stout! kassner (146), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle dark Amber with deep tan head. You can’t miss the chocolate, but the high level of carbonation kicks in too soonfor a stout. Dissappointing after a good start. Very little Malt bblack99 (11), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Sep 2, 2008 On tap at Henry’s 12th St. in Portland, Oregon. Fantastic finish, a hearty "dessert" beer that was great on a cool September evening. IDunno19 (23), Ames, Iowa, USA Sep 1, 2008 I’ve got to admit that as a beer fan, I need to learn to appreciate stouts. I like them, I just don’t love them like I probably should...until now. This is a fantastic beer. The finish literally tastes like chocolate truffles. Pours an ebony color with a dark caramel head. Aroma of oak and smoke as is typical with good stouts. Smooth as can be on the palate and full of flavor with no reprehensible characteristics. Rogue, welcome to my mouth. Gypsy19 (197), AMERICA RISING, USA Aug 30, 2008 A great beer in concept, but not in reality. The chocolate flavor is definitely there, and then nothing else but malt. Really tastes like a Guinness with some Carnation powdered cocoa mixed in. The body is watery. Still, despite those negative aspects, it is not unpleasant and somewhat enjoyable. In other words decent, but could’ve been so much more. Overrated.
