Rated 12/9/06: Rich floral aroma with a dark bitter chocolate scent. Black pour with a 3/4" head that settles down to a solid 1/4", but no lacing ouch. Mouthfeel is much thinner than anticipated, finish is primarily bitter. Flavor is decent, the chocolate doesn’t come through as much as in the aroma and the bittering hops seem to have a tight grasp on the taste. Overall this is not one of my top picks, kind of bummed out. The regular Shakespeare is much better. I’ll be using what’s left in the bomber to make a black and tan, Cheers!

Aug 20, 2008 655ml Bottle (The Rake,London) - Black in colour. Chocolatey aroma with roasted malt and some sweetness. Sweet chocolate taste. A bit artificial perhaps but very tasty.

Aug 19, 2008 22 oz bottle. Ummmm....chocolate! Pours black with a thick brown head. Lots of lacing and sheeting on the glass. Lovely sweet chocolate aroma. Taste progresses from sweet malt and chocolate to more bitter chocolate, with a nice balance of flavors the whole way.

Aug 19, 2008 Never rated but definately had this one. Bottled. Aroma has chocolate and a lot of chocolate Roast and some coffee. Not really complex but high quality. Black coloured beer. Taste is sweet and has chocolate bitterness. Some roast and coffee. Really enjoyable.

Aug 16, 2008 bomber from premier gourmet. this bottle was picked out by my wife from the enitire seletion in the store. pours blackish dark brown with a mid sized and lasting tan head. perfect stout appearance. aromas of sweet chocolate that are playful and intriging. the aroma doesnt show a lot of depth but what is there is enjoyable. flavour-wise this stout delivers. big chocolate with sneaky bitterness from the hops. very smooth although a bit to thin. i have to admit that sweet stouts arent really my thing but this one is enjoyable and something id be likely to buy in the future. id love to try it on tap.

Aug 15, 2008 Dark brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is dominated by sweet chocolate with some subtle notes of grain. Flavor is at first sweet chocolate then its backed up by some nice american hobs which bitterness is tasted on the tongue but not in the moutharoma. Great beer.
