This beer was dark black as stouts usually are. The head was a light coffee color. The smell was just a hint of dark chocolate. The taste was also dark chocolate but not very strong. i was actually expecting a stronger flavor since flavoring was added. This beer was decent and probably one of the better Rogue beers I have had. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-09-2007 15:24:05

Pours a beautiful black colour with a medium mocca head. The aroma is a very nice malty chocolate smell. The taste is of course filled with chocolate, as well as malty roasts and hops which create a slightly bitter finish that is quite nice. It is full bodied and somewhat creamy. A very good beer overall.

Solid dark color. Filmy mocha head. Head doesn’t last long. I can only pick out chocolate in the aroma. Some roasted malts as well. Flavors are mainly of dark chocolate. Just like the aroma, there are also plenty of roasted malts. Starts out sweet and chocolaty, then finishes with some roasted bitterness. Maybe a little too bitter to finish. Leaves a acidic taste in my mouth. Body is thin, with proper carbonation. Maybe i was expecting too much..

Pours Black thin head. Aroma is very roasty with strong notes of chocolate. The flavour is also very strong with noites of chocolate and a strong flavour of roasted malt.Kind of bitter and dry. All in all not great. Pretty unispired for a Rogue product.

Smells very strongly of chocolate malts and roasted barley. I’ve been experimenting with beer temperature and I think I had this one a little too warm. The flavors were a little overpowering and a tad bitter. It mellowed slightly when I chilled it but I think that some age would do wonders for this beer. I may have to pick one up and leave it in the basement till next Christmas.

22 oz Bottle -- Pours black with a big tan head. Aromas of sweet roasted malt, chocolate milk, and coffee. Not as sweet as it smells, bitter dark chocolate and coffee dominate the flavors. Thick on the palate with a dry, bitter finish.
