On tap @ 111 Castellanza. Marrone, velata, schiuma beige finissima e persistente. Bei riflessi rubino. Aroma intenso, cioccolato fondente, cacao in polvere, tostatura, leggermente erbaceo. maltato (caramello), toffee. Gusto abboccato, quasi amabile all’ingresso, poi tostatura e luppolatura mitigano la dolcezza con una punta di acidità ed un amaro elegante. Mediamente corposa, quasi oleosa, poco carbonata. Poco calda. Equilibrata ed armonica.

Bottle from Katsuragawa Aeon. Labelled as Chocolate Bear Beer. Huge sweet chocolate aroma, something nutty and malty as well. Flavour is sweet, chocolatey and malty and has a nice dry oatmeal finish.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2015 Aroma: big chocolate, dark roast coffee, mild alcohol Appearance: opaque black, with fluffy tan head Taste: mild sweetness, bitterness that builds to a sharp, lingering finish Palate: light-medium body, not much carbonation, bitter finish Chocolate up front is a bit muted compared to the huge bitter finish. Somewhat disappointed based on expectations.

Had to get used to it in the beginning, but after a couple of sips, this one got me in quite a good way. Pours dark black with a brownish head that lasts long. Bit like a coffee if you ask me. Aroma is dark sweet with clear cocoa notes and some dark fruits. Some dark roasts as well. Beautiful sugars, great coffee. Really nice. Taste is heavy bitter with a clear note of the chocolate. Sweetness is overwhelmed by the bitterness. However, you still feel the chocolate, burnt caramels, coffee, the dark fruits and the roasty notes. Something spicy as well. Bit of a warmishness in the boozy, long finish, that is mainly roasty and bitter. Yet the ’chocolateness’ remains pretty strong. It is pretty good though. Nicely full bodied, bit of a creamy, thick texture that fits with the whole of this brew. Great. Nice brew in general. Balanced more towards the bitter side, yet the creamy and sweetish kick in it gives it something smooth that makes it a lot more softer. Really interesting and definitely worth another try.

BOTTLE. Poured black with a fluffy tan head. Drinking chocolate powder on the nose more so than "a chocolate bar". Creamy texture with a Chocolate malt hit up front , slight dark chocolate bitterness at the back end. Really good beer. Sourced Cellarbrations @ Capel
