22oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark muddy brown almost black with an average (1-2 finger) medium brown rocky head that receded steadily, down to a thin film with a large collar and had fair spotty lacing. The aroma was loaded with chocolate right up front along with some burnt malts, a light resin hop and a doughy yeast and had notes of coffee, dark chocolate and a mild nutty presence. Taste was bitter sweet and malty with a note of dark chocolate in the beginning, and then became moderately bitter with a bold dose of coffee and yes more bitter chocolate towards the finish. The flavor hung around for quite a long time after the swallow, with a very bitter mocha coffee taste left lying on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was full in body with a dry, oily texture and a nice soft carbonation. Overall and simply put, this brew is a Chocoholics dream and I am hooked...

Avalanche de chocolat sans écoeurer. Assez légère et facile à boire. Bonne stout mais pas si exceptionelle que ca.

Shared at my Summer Plunder Tasting by Kery. A dark cola pour which is black with ruby highlights. 5% great cocoa nib aroma very smooth. Medium bodied with a bitter dark cacao flavor and some sweet vanilla notes. A nice solid chocolate stout.

Totally black with thick beige head. Nice lacing. Strong aroma of sweet chocolate, hint of vanilla and mocha. Good at nose, but taste is even better! Lots of chocolate, coffee with milk and vanilla background. Texture is oily. Full body. Low carbonation. Awesome stout, one of the best I’ve drank.

I wanted more than I got. The aroma is amazing, but aside from that I thought this let me down somehow. It’s not bad, it’s just not good.

Chocolate stout with thick, beige, creamy head and dark mahogany colour, approaching black. Aroma strongly dominated by cocoa powder, toffee and chocolate bars, some coffee and dark fruits as well; very chocolatey taste, like a fluid bar of bitter chocolate, powdery, soft mouthfeel, oats and cocoa powder, sweetish and yeasty but assertively roasted bitter in the end with leafy hops. Great if you like chocolate.

(Rogue Chocolate Stout) Bottle 650 ml at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 6.5 on the importer’s sticker. Totally black colour on the body, very thick as I pour it. Small brown head, maybe half a finger in size, no more than that. Average retention, minimal lacing left behind along with a foam island on the surface. Aroma is full of chocolate, very lactic, oats, light mocha. Very appealing and inviting. Dessert in a glass. Lots of chocolate and all kinds of it. Milky chocolate, dark bitter chocolate, chocolate fudge. All the sweetness balances out on the finish with light roasted malts and a nice, mild bitterness that brings again in mind chocolate. Fantastic! Medium thick body, notable carbonation. Sticky palate. Truly great beer!
