3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
At the pub in newport. Aroma of molasses, resin, burnt toast. dark dark, a whisp of a head. just a little weight in the mouth, good carbonation. strong roasted flavor is amplified by the harsh metallic hops, which isnít a good thing for me. dark IPAs are difficult to pull off, to get the right relationship of dark malt & significant hops.

Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roastiness, earthiness, coffeegrapefruit and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, coffee, earthiness, light grapefruit and a hint of pine with a crisp dry moderatly bitter lingering roasty finish.

Poured into a pint glass. Had a finger and half of tan head on top of a brown body, color matched the bottle.
The smell was almost exclusively pine.
It had a sharp lemon and grapefruit taste at first, moved to a less bitter with the malt in the middle, and ended with pine bitterness that lasted.
The body is soft and medium with moderate carbonation.
Itís a tasty drink and fairly strong on the "IPA" side.

Has some nice roasty character with a light hop scent. Taste is bitterness up front and slowly fades.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bomber poured into a tulip. Pours black with about a half finger of off-white head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate with a little pine and citrus. Taste is medium bitter. Mostly pine with some coffee and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with a creamy yet thin texture. Lively carbonation and a very long, very bitter finish. Overall, awesome. I would gladly drink this again.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is vague hops with some roasted malt. Flavor is relatively hoppy with a strong malt body. A little thin for the amount of malt flavor in this. Decent drinking beer but not my favorite.

Draft @ Coalhouse Pizza, Stamford, CT. An average black IPA with roasted flavors and notes of cola. Kinda flat mouthfeel and bitter without much flavor. Not bad, but not up to Rogueís typical standards.

Draught at Tadgís. Aroma of coffee, a bit of chocolate and fruit, but altogether a bland nose and no hop character there. Light chocolate and fruit flavors, with a huge, filthy bitterness. Completely unbalanced and harsh and not at all likeable. The finish is long, bitter and raunchy. No thanks.
