COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After the death of his wife, Henry Jackson Smart was left to raise his 6 young children alone. His courage, love, selflessness and dedication inspired his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, to organize the first Fatherís Day on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Fatherís Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established it as a permanent day of national observance.

Dadís Little Helper Black IPA is deep mahogany in color with roasted malt and hop aromas and dense creamy head. It enters the palate with intense hop flavor and coats the tongue with a rich maltiness from the Rogue Farms Risk Malt.

Pint @ Pub at Piperís Creek, $5.00. When I order a beer at bar, no matter how divey, I never expect it to look like muddy pond water. Imagine my surprise when thatís exactly what this brew looked like. Smelled hoppy enough but the body was thin and unsatisfying (something I find often with Rogueís new Risk Malt). Iím not angry, just unimpressed.

22 oz bomber pours deep brown with a thin off white head. Aroma of toffee, roasted malt and a touch of citrus. Taste of malt, hops and a bit of sweetness.

dark ruby color, aroma of caramel, toffee, roasted malt, citrus/pine hops, flavors of caramel, toffee, coffee, chocolate, citrus fruits, pine, something a little off about this one, to sweet for me

Growler. So darky w/ more roasted chocolate malt than expected (this really lost the IPA spirit). Hoppy, yeah, but the body was heavy.

Good work Rogue, again. Only gripe is nose is way to soft. Looks like a stout and has the roasted malts and coffee bite but also a hoppy citrus tinge. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Solid and well balanced for the style. Almost a hoppy porter. Thinnish body, roasted malt, chocolate and a soft bitter finish. Solid as always from Rogue but certainly not on repeat playlist.

Truth be told, this rating may be a little low for how I usually rate IPAs, but it just wasnít the right beer at the time I opened it. Quite bitter and astringent and too thick for what we all were craving. Good but not the right beer at the time.
