COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After the death of his wife, Henry Jackson Smart was left to raise his 6 young children alone. His courage, love, selflessness and dedication inspired his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, to organize the first Fatherís Day on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Fatherís Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established it as a permanent day of national observance.

Dadís Little Helper Black IPA is deep mahogany in color with roasted malt and hop aromas and dense creamy head. It enters the palate with intense hop flavor and coats the tongue with a rich maltiness from the Rogue Farms Risk Malt.

Pours black with a tanned head. Malty aroma, with IPA bitterness, and some roasty notes. Very good, Probably the first black IPA iíve liked.

Bottle. Nice dark color with thick tan head. I seem to have gotten another unfresh one- perfumy and overly sweet in a bad way. Flavor is askew too- sweet and perfumy then bitter. I was looking forward to drinking this after a 12 hour day and now Iím just annoyed. Maybe itís cause Iím not a dad...

Bomber. Arcade Beers, Huddersfield. 6.1%. Hardly any of the ingredients listed above match the ones on this bottle. Hazy, dark brown. Thin, messy, lasting, beige head. Nose has ashy, earthy, blackberry hop. Hint of savoury smoke from somewhere. Taste is fruity, light bitter. Some lip stickage. Smooth body. Light and easy drinking. Long, earthy, fruity bitter finish. Decent.

22 oz bottle served in a lager glass. An all around excellent Blac IPA, with fine looks including an ample and durable head, an inviting aroma, exceptional mix of dark roasted grain and hop flavors, and a soft and smooth but lively mouthfeel. Great balance and blending of the hop and malt components - a trait that is all too rare in this style. Overall: I certainly seem to like Rogue beers, on average, more than the typical beer geek. Two reasons, at least, I would guess. One is that Rogue suffers from some of the negative attitude cast towards some large, established craft brewers. Second, it seems I am a big fan of their proprietary yeast.

Bottle. Brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is lots of chocolate, roasty with some fruit. Flavour is nicely bitter, roasty cocoa and coffee with some subtle fruit. Not the richest black IPA, but pretty tasty and balanced.

Bomber. Clear deep dark ruby hued brown, mostly lasting tan foam. Dark roasted malt aroma, faint floral citric hop. Taste is mostly smooth dark roasty malt, slight chocolate hint, milder citric pine hop. Average carbonation, medium-fuller bodied, moderately hopped. CDA Lite. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

AshtonMcCobb (4413) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 28, 2015
Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance -opaque black with a big fluffy fawn head. Nose - elusive as hiding behind the head. Pine and chocolate. Taste - bitter chocolate, orange and citrus pith. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - enjoyable but leaning more towards stout than ipa and it should be in the middle.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours opaque dark brown with a thick beige head. Aromas of pine, citrus, light roast. Taste is chocolate and orange. Slightly thin finish, which is pretty par for the course with Rogue.
