A decent black IPA. Initial taste of chocolate is surprising butt out rounds out to a nice roasty, hoppy finish. Dont see many black IPAs out there so I have to try any I can find. Iíd get it again.

this beer was amazing, a beautiful dark colored beer with a nice creamy head that would bring a smile to any craft beer lovers face. The aroma was thick with hops and roasted malts (they had me salivating!) The taste is a beaut, the first thing you taste is a nice wallop of hops which gives way to a roasted malt then a nice bitter finish. What struck me the most though was the intensity of the flavors, there was nothing subtle, you knew what you were tasting and it was not hiding!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Standard black IPA, which is not a bad thing cause this style is quite good. But compared to other black IPAís, this one does not stand out.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dry chocolate and hops on the nose slightly grassy. Appearance is a almost pitch black poor with a lingering beige head, nice lacing down the glass. Dry on the palate with bitterness from malt and hops. Very tasty beer

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a fine IPA, medium golden dark in color, with a nice head. It is more balanced than a lot of IPAs, with a rich malt taste not overwhelmed by the intense hops. Medium to full bodied. Delightful.

8/24/2011. From bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Malty aromas with caramel, chocolate, citrus and pine. Good hoppy flavors with the malt and fruit. Not bad at all.
