COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After the death of his wife, Henry Jackson Smart was left to raise his 6 young children alone. His courage, love, selflessness and dedication inspired his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, to organize the first Father’s Day on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established it as a permanent day of national observance. Dad’s Little Helper Black IPA is deep mahogany in color with roasted malt and hop aromas and dense creamy head. It enters the palate with intense hop flavor and coats the tongue with a rich maltiness from the Rogue Farms Risk Malt. About a 1 inch thick head of very fine and creamy light brown bubbles. Roasted grains, chocolate malts, light piney hops and some black cherry. Color is a dark brown. Rich flavor with lots of roasted grains, piney hops, light chocolate malts and a bit of burnt bitter coffee. Dryness from the hops and grains make the mouthfeel kind of chalky. Finishes roasty and bitter. An ok black IPA.

Coffee aroma. Black black color. Beige pillowy head. Coffee and nut taste. Strong and black. Chocolate. Fuck. This is good. Thanks again Rogue.

Aromas of milk and faint roasted grains. Black in color with thin foam and nice lacing. Slightly watery and milky upfront with an immediate burst of roasted chocolate, molasses, grains and caramel. Alcohol is very soft with a toffee finish. Overall, pretty unique Black IPA with milky chocolate overtones and some roast/toffee undertones. More stout-like than IPA. I’d give this a B+ rating.

Probably the most tame ipa I’ve had to date. Personally, I like a "kick in the balls" ipa, but this is very nice for a mellower brew. A great finishing brew with an excellent palate.

Reddish Brown with white head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt...a little nutty. Taste is roasted malt and a little bitter. Thought it would have more of an IPA bite. Still not bad at all.

Bomber bottle and served in a tulip: Pours a deep brown with a nice frothy off-white head and good lace. The beer profile is that of roast, bread and charred malts along with dank , resiny, piney and slight juicy hops. A bit medicinal (aka band-aid) and harsh mouth feel. While this avoids the sweet malt fault that many Black IPA’s have, there is still something not quite right with this brew. Harsh and aggressive mouthfeel makes it less than enjoyable. The hops seems all wrong!

Very dark red body, off white head. Roasted malty aroma with caramel, almonds, toast, a light herbal bitterness. Quite bitter with a hint of dry sourness with some black chocolate, bread, pine. Nice, but not particularly impressive.

650ml bottle. Clear dark brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Slightly grassy, herbal hoppy aroma with dark malty background, a nuttily touch. Taste is bitter hoppy, slightly herbal and grassy, dark malty notes flashing up, also slightly watery in between; overall a bit weak on the malty side.

On tap at Man in the Moon in Stockholm (during the IPA festival). Roasted malty with toffee. Roasted toasted maltiness with some bitterness but not allot of hops.
