COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After the death of his wife, Henry Jackson Smart was left to raise his 6 young children alone. His courage, love, selflessness and dedication inspired his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, to organize the first Father’s Day on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established it as a permanent day of national observance. Dad’s Little Helper Black IPA is deep mahogany in color with roasted malt and hop aromas and dense creamy head. It enters the palate with intense hop flavor and coats the tongue with a rich maltiness from the Rogue Farms Risk Malt. Bottle pours opaque black with light tan head and crazy lace. Aromas of toasted malts, grainy, chocolate citrus and light grassy pine and nutty woody notes. Med body, toasty caramel, light coffee, med bitterness, finishing semi sweet roasty on the finish

Dark, with a reddish tint when held up to a light. Strong tan lacing. Cutting bitterness at first, that rounds out very nicely into a dry malty-ness. Interesting transition on the palate the works well. When I was on an IPA kick this would have rated very high.

Very good beer. Rogue what don’t you do well? Your brewery got this CANADIAN saying what country is # 1 in beer - America! Ohhhh and ahhh all around to my Canadian friends. Seriously look at the numbers and awards. Defender of the faith ( always a judas priest reference). Tasty beer. Malty, hoppy (but subtle), caramel nose and resinous aftertaste) Another great one on your list. Someday I’ll reach my beermecca - Rogue brewery but until then keep on sendin it down unda!!

0.65l bottle. Black body, light brown head. Aroma of grains, chocolate and dark fruits with some citrusy hops. Taste of chocolate, caramel, piny and citrusy hops. OK beer.

Black pour with cloudy beige head. Complex aroma, cola & pine stand out. Flavor is big lashings of dark malt, coffee, chocolate and licorice. There is a burst of bitterness at the end which dissipates quickly and a drying malt/licorice finish returns. Toss up really of i would call it an IPA or an imperial stout though if I were blind tasting

This is a great slow beer, possibly am example of American brewers pushing it too far but rich, complex and tasty nonetheless. Drank from a longneck but would prefer to try on tap. A very good beer but not for everyone.

For me beer tasted rather like RIS than black IPA. Mostly coffee and roasty aromas. very bitter, slick feel in the mouth with bitter finnish.

Bottle from Dan Murphy. Cola-black, thick, creamy head, roasty, malt aroma, really dry bitterness in the mouth, cocoa, coffee, cigar ash, pine resin, full body. Nice!

Had this on draft at Pour House. Almost black pour. Off white head. Nutty bitter choclate cocoa taste. But off. Not a fan. Expected much better out of this
