COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"This ain’t your Dad’s malt liquor" - Brewmaster John Maier After the death of his wife, Henry Jackson Smart was left to raise 6 young children alone. His courage, love, selflessness and dedication inspired his daughter, Sonora Smart Dodd, to organize the First Father’s Day on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Fathers Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established it as a permanent day of national observance. Dad’s is brewed with Harrington and Klages malts, Flaked Corn, Crystal Hops, Free Range Coastal Water, and Czech Pils Yeast. Available in the spring of 2005 in the classic 22-ounce Rogue micropiece. Measurements: 17 degrees Plato, IBU 25, Apparent Attenuation 77, Lovibond 10 degrees.

Re-rate, as part of a 18 beer blind Malt Liquor tasting. My early rate is a classic "not rating to style" error. When tasted against 17 other companions, this beer is actually pretty damn good. There were some hops in here, with some actual malt character. This was quite the standout among the crowd. Sometimes you just need a bit of perspective with a beer. Rate is for current experience.

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark urine gold color with a small fizzy off-white head that vanished immediately. Aroma of creamed corn and grainy pale malts with alcohol and a little garbage juice to balance things out. The flavor is just as unappetizing as the aroma. Vile alcohol, grainy corn, and very little malt to speak of. Not sure if there are any hops used in this at all. Mouthfeel is super carbonated and fizzy with a watery texture. Well, I did drink the whole thing, but it was 85 degrees in my house due to no air conditioning because of basement flooding. So it really was more due to the heat than the flavor that I finished it.

22oz bottle from Windmill Farms. Pours a mostly clear gold with a small white ring. Nose starts with faint hops and some grain, then gives way to some distant apple notes. A pretty tasty lager.

Aroma is mostly malt but not very strong. Flavor is light, fairly malty not that much to it. Basically tastes like a more pleasant malt liquor or strong generic lager. Overall, more pleasant than the alternatives, but more of a novelty than anything.

Clear piss yellow/gold, thin white head. Aroma of sweet corn and apple. Taste is sweet and cardboard. Thin body, what a joke, c’mon man.

Bought a 22 oz bottle for my Dad for Fathers Day last year. Pours a light hazy straw color with a small white head. Aroma is grainy with all sorts of farm-like notes, straw, corn, etc. Flavor is clean and smooth, so already better than the typical malt liquor. Grassy and lightly bitter in the finish with some barely there hops. Dominated by the sweet grains, but not unpleasant in the finish. Light to medium body and active carbonation. This was a fun one to drink with Pops

Bottle. Pours a dark gold with a a quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is full of notes of grain, malts and corn. Flavor has sweet malt notes with grainy and corn undertones. It is a bit syrupy on the tongue.

Bottle at McLoughlin’s, Kyoto. Cloudy amber - white head. Licorice, sweetness, high malty, nice medium hoppy, yeasty, sharpness, light wheaty notes. OK.
