pepsican (884), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA Nov 12, 2007 Pours piss yellow with a big white head. Smells like corn, malt, and a street corner bum. Taste is great. A bit of hops and a smooth sweet flavor. Nice and dry finish. I’m a sucker for a good malt liquor, and this is one of the best. Thanks for the odd brew Rogue! csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Nov 12, 2007 22oz bottle. Straw colored, white head, a bit hazy. The aroma is nice. Hops are central in the aroma, but very understated. Light lemon and mildly floral, as well as some sweetness, maybe the corn? It is not an unplesant smell. The flavor is grainy, with a bit of sweetness and a great lemon/citrus flavor. Very clean from the yeast, but very flavorful. The hops in this beer seperate it from other "malt liquors." I would be interested to see how this would rate blind, or rated according to style. Pretty tasty! keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Nov 5, 2007 I’m surprised by the low ratings for this beer. I enjoyed it a lot. Nothing exceptional, but I found it very drinkable and nothing to complain about. Optigon (561), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 27, 2007 Pours light brown, clear, with a light, white head. Aroma is alcoholic with some banana and apple qualities. Rather thin aroma, however. Mouthfeel is thin with an alcoholic warmth and some caramel, apple, and light banana qualities. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 22, 2007 After its release from the 22 ounce bottle, it sets in the glass a slightly foggy gold color with an adequate white creamy head that fade to nothingness rather quickly, leaving a velum like sheet of lace. Nose is saturated with sweet malt, a hint of hops and a nice refreshing experience overall. Start has a delectable malt presence and is somewhat sweeter than I expected and the palate feels middling. Finish has a fair bit of hops, sweet and a bit of bite from the alcohol that also warms the tummy, dry lingering aftertaste, now if all “Malt Liquors” tasted this way I might take a shot at Old English! lol JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 17, 2007 Liquid that is lightly hazed and dark golden color. An atypical fizzy off-white head that diminishes to the few remaining bubbles that float to the top and find their way to the edge of the glass and die a slow death. Aromas of grain and corn mush, along with some sour grape wine. Hints of pale malt surrounded by syrupy goo and alcohol. A thin corn sugar with a hint of herbal hops. Biting in the finish and into the linger. Luckily little is left in the end. A great effort to make a brew that matches our style guidelines. I have actually had a couple of malt liquors at brew pubs that do not taste like the typical malt liquor from City Brewery (they are real good at making these sugary alcoholic bombs) that actually are malt based and are fine brews. The one I long for is Great Dane’s Pre Pro-tel Memorial Malt Liquor; it was named after the brew pubs original delivery van and was a fine hearty, malt liquor. Not this cheap tasting piece of crap. To think I was actually excited to find this, thinking it may actually be a well made brew. As a single Dad I am even offended by the fact that they add the story of father’s day to the side of the bottle. Bah! joverton85 (80), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Oct 9, 2007 small thin white head and weak yellow body, not very pretty but tasty. it is good for being a malt liquor and better than any other, which isn’t really saying much. i liked the malty flavor and smooth taste. for the price it’s not really worth spending on a "good" malt liquor but the novelty is fun. maltdog (510), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 7, 2007 Pale dirty yellow with a thin, slumpy soapsud head. Very soft malty and grainy aromas, perhaps also notes of apple, DMS, and damp earth. Nearly flavorless... corn-heavy macrolager... a suggestion of floral/honey character. Overall sulphur/industrial chimney impression. Barely recognizable hop bitterness. Minimal carbonation contributes to a flabby, oily mouthfeel. Quality of the bottle’s contents are far outshadowed by the bottle itself. Overall, tastes like gummy, bile-soured hangover mouth. The last thing craft brewings needs is another Rogue novelty beer.
