COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2011 Pours light brown, light carbonation. Taste is mostly of malt, but not sweet. Lightly balanced with hops that leave a light lingering bitterness. A good beer when you want something more complex than a pale ale, but not heavy or bitter. A good daily drinker

It poured a clear burnt orange color with a beige head. The aroma was more malty and fruity, with caramel, bread, some fresh orange and dusty hops. The flavor was orange and caramel up front, moving to grapefruit, orange peel, bread, and a nice bitterness. A very enjoyable Heller Bock.

Now this is a highly enjoyable brew. Great nose, great mouthfeel, and great finish. This should be on everyone’s to-try list.

Pours a hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. Aroma of fruit, malts and some light hops. Flavor of fruit, caramel malts, and very very light hops. Very easy to drink.

Tap. Poured a a golden amber with a medium head. Has a nice malty taste balanced nicely by some bitterness. Clean aftertaste. Very good overall.

Bottle. Faint roasty hoppy aroma. Colour is hazy dark orange with a white lasting head. Taste of hops and cream/milk.

Purchased as a bomber from fresh market in Richmond va. Poured into a tulip glass. Pours a really nice honey tobacco color with awesome head and lacing. A beautiful beer. Smells German. Yeah there is a smell. Taste follows, perfect balance of malt and hop back bone, just enough on the back end to dry out pleasantly. Feels nice, very quaffable. Overall this beer is awesome. Best beer I’ve had from rogue, however not worth the price tag.

Truly a brew for quality quaffing! This brew poured up an amber colored body with a bubbly thin head that dissipated rather quickly and left good lacing effects on the glass. Sweet aromas of malt, hops, and island fruits (almost like jack-fruit which is used to make Juicy Fruit gum). Medium-bodied, smooth, easy on the drinkability scale. Very malty so it has a good ‘thickness’ to it. The finish is so creamy and clean with no harsh aftertastes of any sort.
