Pours copper with thick off white head, aroma is very malty, hints of caramel,no real hop presence. Nice lacing in my glass flavor is malty caramel and has a slight nuttiness, small hops bitterness that isn’t very noticeable. Good brew to grab when there aren’t any other craft options, you can find this stuff almost everywhere.

Djupt gyllene med vitt skum. Viss maltighet i doften i övrigt doftar den inte jättemycket. En trevlig lätt pepprighet i smaken.

I poured a 22oz bomber into a large beer mug.
Appearance: Dark amber color with an orange glaze. Slight cloudy body, but plenty of carbonation visible. Forms a large, beige, soapy head which laces and retains quite well.
Smell: Light confectionary sweetness - mild toffee and caramel notes, otherwise mild and neutral.
Taste: There’s a lot of debate whether Dead Guy Ale is indeed an ale (because it’s brewed with ale yeast), or a lager (because it’s brewed in the Maibock style). The first thing I notice about it is how much it tastes and feels like an ale. It’s too thick, soft, and tepid to be a lager - but then again that describes many doppelbocks and other beers of the bock family.
This is not a complex beer - it’s quite simple and to-the-point. Up front is a mild malty sweetness of toffee and caramel. The middle imparts noticeable bitterness along with some lager-like grainy texture and taste. There’s sweet caramel or butterscotch flavor in the immediate aftertaste, but it fades quickly and a slightly dry sensation emerges. It’s tasty palate to be sure, but nothing mind-blowing.
Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with a soft, comfortable texture. No fizziness.
Drinkability: Although the name may be strange, I find Rogue Dead Guy Ale to be a great introductory craft beer for most people. The palate is rather mild with hints of lager quality, but has a genuine taste that’s sweet but not obnoxious. Its smoothness makes it easy to slug down and the weight of 6.5% ABV seems higher than it feels. I’ve seen people session this and I can understand why.
Overall, Rogue Dead Guy Ale is an interesting beer for many reasons, but I don’t think it’s quite the elite beer its reputation would have me believe it is.

Pours a deep gold with nice white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is just as sweet with some roasted malt coming through with a little bit of hoppy goodness. One of the best Maibocks I’ve had. So good.

A solid everyday beer. It’s nothing extremely exciting but it’s a good drinker.

Great tasting Ale. Rogue beers have a distinctive subtle spice to them that I just love. Beautiful dark amber color, great head, and a fantastic finish that is clean.
