COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Amber in color in a very cool bottle. It tastes strong than it is and leaves a slightly sour aftertaste. I did enjoy it quite a bit though. At times it is sickly sweet.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. This beer is a complete package. Niced copper pour with a fluffy white head. Great balance of malts and hops. Aroma is rather sweet with a prominant note of honey. Lots of fruit and caramel malts in this one. Honey is the big winner here though. Love it

The Rogue Dead Guy Ale has a great aroma of sweet, complex hops along with caramel malt. A great beer that deserves a drink, if not multiple ones.

650ml bottle. Cloudy amber pour with off white head. Malty and spicy on the nose. A little strange on the palate; almost roasted with a spicy edge, hard to describe.

Bottle pour ---> Tulip. Poured a hazy copper, with a thick head and sloppy lacing. The scents were spicy with hops, tangy fruit and a hint of caramel. It tasted pretty darn good, with a touch of tangerine, bitter dry hops, and leaving the mouth sticky and sweet. Perhaps the best doomsday beer for now.

Bottle into tulip. Thanks to Chipalsa for this one. Nice aroma, like hops and sweet malt with a touch of honey or agave. Light fruit mixed in as well. Great lacing and a clear, light brown body. This brew had some great fruit flavors and some malt in their as well. The hops were there but well hidden in the background. Fruits include peach and apple. Nice.

9/7/2009 White Crane Bitter Saw this at the store the other day, and it called to me. I’m not sure what to expect as the label is in Japanese. Pours a slightly cloudy orange/amber with a big fluffy white head. Smells of citrus and floral hops, a bit of a mineral smell as well. Not much going on really in the nose. Taste is a little better with some sweet malts caramel and bread mixed up with some floral hops and that mineral tartness. Sparkling carbonation, sticky mineral-y mouthfeel, medium body. I’m not sure how old this bottle is or how it came to be available for sale in NH, but I bet its not as fresh as it should be. Nothing objectionable here, but really not up to what I consider the norm for Rogue.

Bottle. Hazy amber with small off white head leaving some lacings. Funky and yeasty sweet with candy and overripe fruit and some wilted hops. Taste is quite the same. Overripe peach, mango and passion fruit, candyish with some biscuit malt and wilted grassy and flowery hops. Medium to light body, slightly sticky with soft carbonation. As you get it here its actually quite a disgusting beer.
