COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

the color is a dark amber to light brown, with a thin head that is white. aroma is strong malty notes, with slight aroma of hops, caramel, and toffee. the flavor is very strong malt body, thick and dissipates really fast. there is caramel, and honey flavors that i get form this. ends with bitterness. this is really good! full body and excellent mouth feel

Nice aroma, good mild malt, esp forward, nice finish. Caramel and coffee. An instant favorite.

Amber with decent off-white head. Rich malty nose. Full palate. Rich, malty and toasty flavor. hint of hop bitterness but it’s really about the meaty malt. Excellently balanced. Yum!

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2011 Great beer. Didn’t know until reading this it’s a bock. Love the malt forward, but with some hop backing taste.

29-APR-2011, bottle @Barcelona appartment, from La Cerveteca. Orange, beautifull with fine lasting beige head. Wonderfull bitter nose with citric orange notes. Bitter grape fruit taste that lasts long. Taste not quite as forward as the nose. A bit thin in body. Very nice brew.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 Poured a slight light brown reddish but more golden with an orange glowing hue.Looks great in a mug.Short layer of head with bits of lacing.Smelled of english yeast or grain faint alcohol-slight skunkiness almost but might be that hells quality or a tart-slight buttery english. .Light to med bodied. Good body and mouthfeel.Malty grainy sweetness with classic bock taste,some citrus floral hop taste finishes pretty dry faintly stickyand maltyNice bittering somewhat minerally on the finish aloso.A good beer but I appreciate more of Rogues other ales.

Light amber-orange colored with a decent off-white head. Aroma of caramel, bread and some slight citrus. Taste is pretty much the same, malty, decent and full flavored for a maibock, but still just a kind of bland. Medium body and carbonation. Again, good for the style, but this isn’t exactly an exciting style.

Nice multiflavor, you can get a good malty character both with the aroma and taste. Very good ale.
