COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Good beer. Appearance is a light amber/golden color with an orange hue. The aroma is full of carmel, citrus, and yeast. The taste is very similar. It is a well balanced beer but doesn’t do anything to stand out. I would like to try double dead guy next based on tasting this.

341ml bottle. Pours a hazy light amber, nice off-white head that settles to a nice lacing. Mellow citrus, yeast, and bread aroma, smooth/creamy mouthfeel, not much of any overwhelming taste but a very slight hopiness for the finish, dries out the mouth nicely. Overall like the beginning and the end but between there is something lacking. Still haven’t had this in a long time and need to pick up a few when I feel like liquid dough :)

Deep amber color. Thin head. Malty aroma, bread, herbs, citrus. Slightly sweet on front of palace with a bit of hops on the finish. Very unique beer.

Tasted on 3/31/11 from a 12oz bottle at Inovasi. Pours clear burnt orange with an average beige head that leaves thin but even lace. The nose is more malty and fruity than anything else, with caramel, bread, and fresh orange, along with herbal and dusty hops. The flavor is orange and caramel up front, moving to grapefruit, orange peel, bread, and a nice bitterness. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long finish that features orange peel bitterness.

Aroma is of honey malt and a bit of Saaz hops. Pours a reddish golden color. Flavor is honey grainy malt and slightly bitter hops. This beer is very smooth and the flavor is very well balanced.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a moderate caramel-brown color with a light tan head and a bit of lacing. The nose brings some light floral hops over a body of caramel and some lightly-sweet bready malt. The flavor is a bit bready with some yeast characteristics. The body is medium with good carbonation. Overall, one of the first craft beers that I had, but not something that impresses me terribly these days. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-24-2010

Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is malty and caramel. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Bitter and dry finish with a little alcohol. 170609
