COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

A deep honey colored brew as advertised. Minimal head and light fizzy carbonation. Surprisingly heavy body. Flavor is sweet and malty. Yeast is apparent too. Some hop balance, but otherwise this one is nothing special.

640mL bottle A beautiful looking beer; dense white inch of foam persists on a copper body that is more red than gold and brilliant with clarity. Aroma of moderate intensity. Malt dominated, lots of light caramelly, husky Munich malts, bit of Melanoidin nutty toffee richness and mild roast. Subtle floral hops detectable, quite clean otherwise. Lovely creamy texture with excellent mouthfeel and smooth carbonation, with a long palate that eventually dries out. Plenty more of malt flavour on the body; toasted bread crust, vanilla cookies, golden syrup and sweet bran breakfast cereal.Subtle dried herbal hops linger on a very well finished beer; just enough bitterness to balance that initial sweetness. Geez this beer is easy to drink! I was wondering why they call it Dead Guy, but at 6.6%, you could very comfortably drink a bit too much of this and...well you get the picture...

What a lovely beer. Nice maltiness with a pop of hops and a clean finish. I always saw them but never partook. the honey golden color is nice as well as the honey smell on the nose. I shall be drinking this beer again

Pours a copper color with small head. Raisins, aroma and taste, not overpowering though. Very good drink.

Trevlig ale, men det känns som jag har druckit denna flera gånger tidigare. Trevliga toner, inte för söt, lagom balanserad.

Lucent dark amber, thin beige head, medium-full body, medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: chicken coop, fruity esters.

Taste: chicken coop, astringent malt, and a hint of nobel hop bitterness.

Would be pretty good without the coop flavor.

Pours a lighter copper/orange with a decent off white head. Intoxicating nose of bakery and paradise. Bready flavor with light malts and very subtle hops. The introduction of hops comes slowly after the initial swallow and then lingers for a while. Genius. There IS a flavor in the background I don’t care for. I just can’t place what it is, but it doesn’t belong. Like a burnt sugar or burnt maple syrup or something. It seriously cuts the overall score of this down.
