COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

12oz bottle (White Crane Bitter Ale) in a shaker. Pours deep, opaque amber with a thick lingering head. Aroma of malts, roasted, hints of nuts, and a little toffee. Flavor mainly of the malts, as described in the aroma, with a light hop crispness at the end. Full bodied, almost thick. A pretty good beer.

Poured a nice orange/brown, with a thin white head. Aroma is malty, but with hints of hops, fruits, and caramel. Flavor is malty, bitter, and small hints of flowers, as well as some fruity notes. Didn’t get the sense of this being a bock beer, but good none the less.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with tan head with good lacing. Aroma of toasted malt. Taste of sweet toasted malt.

Bomber. Too much crystal malt sweetness. Tone that back a lilttle bit and it would be perfectly balanced. Hops are right. Alcohol comes through more than you’d expect-but in a kinda good way, except it would make it difficult to have more than one.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2011 Great toasted orange color to this one, no head. I get a kind of sweet aroma, maybe caramel. Well balanced beer, alcohol is a little too noticable. Don’t eat food with this, could hurt the palate. Good beer.
