mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Dec 6, 2008 Bottle on 2008-12-06. Amber and clear. Medium sized white quite quick head. Malty and roasty aromas nose. Full bodied and dry palate with medium carbonation. Malts, roastedness, toffee, sweetness, bittterness in taste. Toffee and bitterness in aftertaste. Tranquillity (1165), Espoo, Finland Dec 6, 2008 Bottled. Amber/orange body, thick off-white head. Aroma like that of a fruity whisky... Cragganmore anyone? Fruits, something sweet and perhaps marshmallowy in the aroma. The taste is balanced and good, but doesnt have that little extra that gets me going. But the finish does a pretty decent job. mullet2007 (198), St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada Dec 5, 2008 Pours a nice deep orange colour with a thick white head. Nose is lots of caramel and some reasonably strong citrus hops and other fruitiness too. Flavour is similar, lots of very sweet caramel and toffee sort of flavours, and a fair bit of light fruit flavours. Finishes nice and bitter from hops, and there is a hint of spice or yeast at the back there somewhere. Mouthfeel is just a little bit sharp, but not enough to make it unpleasant. SaintMatty (1197), Tallinn, Estonia Dec 3, 2008 Bottle - Amber/brown in colour. Lightly hoppy aroma with chocolate, caramel and grapefruit. Hoppy and fruity taste with chocolate and grapefruit. The finish is hoppy and fruity with a pleasant bitterness. Codythegreat (133), Carrollton, Georgia, USA Nov 30, 2008 After drinking some crappy beers I tried this one, and Rogue never fails to impress. Pours an amber/honey colour with a white head and has a malty/hoppy taste and slightly bitter. I drank this out of a shaker while eating crab cakes. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2008 A very tasty strong ale from Rogue. Hoppy and fruity, nice overall balance and good flavor! FatguyRacer (129), Crownsville, Maryland, USA Nov 27, 2008 Awesome deep translucent amber color that was almost pearlesent. Big fluffy, merange like butterscotch head that unfortunately disapeared quickly. Aroma of sweet hops. Crisp and dry on the palate with a nice bitter hop aftertaste that didnt linger longer than necessary. Malt undertones are welcome presence. No trace of grassyness like you get with an overhopped ale or IPA. This is one very well balanced ale. One of the best i’ve had in a long time. A pleasant surprise for me, as I have avoided buying it for the longest time. I’ve often dissmissed Rogue brews just because the bottles and beer names seemed too gimmicky. I glad I was wrong mikkopen (251), Oulu, Finland Nov 27, 2008 0,36 l bottle. Hazy reddish orange colour, thin but creamy off-white head. Sweet fruity-malty aroma, with berries and oranges.
