COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

This beer doesn’t do much for me. Somewhat bland in flavor and weak in body.Perhaps that is because I prefer strong dark ales and this is definately not in that class.

The Dead Guy is a bit lighter than I remembered (maybe an 11), with a nice amber pour. It carries a tannish white head that persisted. A nice caramel aroma, and maybe some bready aroma, and a tiny bit of floral hop. Flavor is of caramel sweetness and bready biscuit malt, with a gentle bitter. Well balanced, with no overriding hop character that pushes forward. One of my favorites from back in the day, and it still holds up.

A Maibock but with Ale yeast. So it doesn’t taste quite like other bocks but it is still good. Seems to be on tap at the most random of places you wouldn’t expect. Hops are more mellow and malt a bit more forward. Serving: Bottle and Tap

Just a fantastic brew. Pours A honey-yellow with a substancial white head. Has a bit of a citrusy-hop nose, but the taste is full bodied hops with not much bitterness, balanced with a bunch of malty tones. Wonderfully smooth with a great finish that makes me want more. Best drank at just a llittle cooler than room temp.

A nose of malty floral notes and barley, with a moderately complex palate of barley, earthy notes, caramel, and pleasant hops underneath a fine alcohol warmth.

Pours amber with a big off-white head. Flavor is caramel, pine hops, with a good malt balance. Very nice and sessionable beer.
