Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

A classic. Pours a deep amber with a large fluffy head that lasts for a long time. This is probably the closest drink to pure melted butter. It is so smooth and creamy. Lots of malt, caramel, butter, and a hint of piney hops. Ends with a smack of hops. What an awesome, thick, filling, and satisfying beer. Rogue’s most consistently awesome brew.

Poors deep amber with a light off white head that lasts surprisingly long. Malty, with a little toffee sweetness, and light dried fruit flavors and then piney hops. Pretty heavy drink, but still went down smooth. Sweet bitter finish. Not bad.

Pours amber with a 2 finger chunky head that fades sloly and leaves good lacing. Aroma is grainy, and caramel malts, some buttered toast, and a woody note like fresh cut pine. Hops are planty and herbal. Flavor is lots of malty notes at once right away: cereal, caramel, toasted white bread, toffee. Hops come in toward the middle with some grassy/herbal notes and then hit you like a ton-o-bricks with a dandelion green bitter, and lingering toffee malt finish. Mouthfeel is thin to medium and somewhat astringent. Overall this is a great beer I love the transition from rich buttery malts to pucker-up hops, its like a 1-2 punch.

Growler. Thick head and amber color. Smells of grains and caramel. The taste is heavy malt and a nice balance bitter finish. I was surprised by this. I guess I was expecting something more mainstream like a pale... I was pleasantly rewarded with a complex ale. This is good.

Nice. Dark malts great head and retention. Very dark roasted malt character for the catigory of the brew itself. I would say for being rogues flagship its very good.

Bottle: Hazy amber coloured brew with an skeleton on a barrel at the label. Pretty sweet ale with hints of plum, citrus and slightly caramel.
