COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

At l’Autre Oeil. Pours copper, quite a malty and hoppy aroma. Taste lives up to aroma -- heavy body, full flavour. Caramel-heavy, slighly cereal. Hops are there, but seems blended enough they’re not noticeably citrusy, floral or sprucy. Gets an A+ for balance and body. Just wish it would be more complex.

Good stuff. Nothing really complex. Sweet caramel malt and the right amount of bitterness. Mellow and smooth overall, a good ale.

One of my favorite beers of the moment. Love the Maltiness and hoppiness of this one. Cant wait to try all of the other beers Rogue has to offer. Rated 7/22/2010

Pours a copper color with a good head that fades slowly. Has a caramel & Malt aroma with a hint of sweetness. Mild sweetness of caramel and malt with a nice bitterness and dry finish. Fairly light body that is creamy smooth. Very well balanced. Better than I expected. I did not notice the 6.5 ABV til well into the second one. These go down easy and good for a few. This is well worth seeking out.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber with a nice off-white, long lasting head. Aroma of sweet malt. Tastes of malt and hops blended nicely. Excellent. Excellent.

Just one of my favorite beers, a great combination of maltiness and hopiness, the combination works perfect for me.

Pours a reddish color with a white head. A little over carbonated but taste of malts and subtle hoppy flavors. Taste great and overall a good beer

Not a great beer at all, not terrible, I wouldnt buy it again. I was expecting substantially more. Drinkble, tasty, not worth all the hate it gets, but not deserving of the praise either.
