BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Oct 9, 2008 Aroma is not real strong, but there is some malt and spices there. Color of butterscotch. Decent head that settles slowly, never completely dissipates, and laces the glass all the way down. Pretty cool bottle. Flavor is alot like an IPA with more malt and more of a smoky flavor similar to a Porter. Good flavor...Pretty easy on the palate, leaves an aftertaste but more on the tongue than in the throat. It’s a good beer...just enough balls but drinkable enough to be an everyday beer...I like the smoky flavor added to what I am calling a Pale Ale...it’s a good mix. KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Oct 8, 2008 Draught at McGloughlin’s in Kyoto. Great malty aroma with decent aroma hops. the flavor is almost exactly the same. this ia a great beer--a maibock ale, so it tastes a bit like a maibock but fruitier, and lots of great hops. Great balance and easy to drink tons of. Fabulous. Much better than the bottle, I would add. NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours a orange-amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is very malty. Taste is malty, some hops, and maybe some dark fruits. New to this style, but it is pretty tasty. sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2008 Tasted 10/07/08. 22oz bomber. Filtered with a golden amber hue. Finger width of off-white head. Cereal bready aromas with a touch cinnamon and spicy hops. Medium bodied with a crisp effervescence and nicely bitter hops. Nice sweet bitter dichotomy. Rather zesty. smooth malts and spicy Saaz hops. Solid drinking. Caramel malts shine as the beer warms. This is a go to beer for easy Autumn drinking! sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 7, 2008 Tap @ OTH.
Pours orange/copper , white head.
Arima, hoppy fruity (citrus)
Taste, light hops, sugar, fruity citrus finish with light hop, floral with some pine hops. raymondwave (867), Finland Oct 7, 2008 Bottled, China. Hazy murky brown, quick beige head. Slightly toffeeish nose with marzipan and old barnyard hay. Some berries. Flavor is citric, malty, bitter hops with some nuttiness. Pretty good, but far from heller bock as I know them. More like an IPA maybe, or just a strong ale. Decent mouthfeel with smooth carb. fidel (886), Livermore, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Orange amber, little hazy, malty, honey, caramel, citrus, little spice, light piney hop finish. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2008 22oz. pours copper and not super clear but nice looking head. aroma is earthy with some a nice bit of citrus hop. mouthful is smooth with big malts but finishes with a nice bit of hops. decent balance and good all around drinker... now to be double dead...
