COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Pours a deep golden-amber with big foamy head. Lots of caramel and grassy hops on the nose. Taste is much like the aroma...caramel malt balanced well with a generous amount of bitter hops. Assertive taste yet mellow mouthfeel and very drinkable. Creamy texture. Long lasting hoppy finish. True to Rogue form...very good.

Pours amber colored with a foamy off-white head. Smells of bread, raisins, and cheese. Medium bodied with light carbonation, clean. Malts with some hops at the end. Very enjoyable straight-forward beer.

Out of the bottle this beer is out of sight. First impressions as this is sipped are caramel and molasses, a big smooth sweet introduction that flows into the hoppy bitter finish. Great combination of malt and hop flavors that mix to produce on of my favorite beers out there.

This maibock pours a deep caramel colour and is slightly cloudy. The tanned head is creamy and has great retention. Lightly carbonated. Aromas of caramel malts, some raisins, some nuts and mild hop. Very smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel. Light tasting, with some hop throughout, light bitterness in the finish and way into the aftertaste, a lingering hop kick comes out... like mixing a banana and some grass. Quite interesting, well-balanced and very smooth.

A pretty decent hoppy beer. Nothing terribly special about it, but does end up being hoppier than the average american ale.

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet. Clear light brown with medium off white head, some lacing. caramel malt aroma with some citrus and a big malty flavor with balanced hops and slightly bitter. my go-to session ale.

12oz bottle pours a bubbly, slightly off-white head. Aroma is hops with a little sweetness from the malt. Taste matches the aroma at the start and finishes with lingering bitterness. All in all a pretty good brew, though far from my favorite. I’d go to this when I wanted something bitter, but not overwhelmingly hopped or malted.
