COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Pours bronze with light beige head. Notes of yeast, caramel with some spruce? Taste caramel malt but also hops, spices and roasted malt. Good bitterness finish combined with oily texture.

Honey-Gold with minimal head; carbonation. Smells of caramel and honey. Taste has some hops and caramel?

On tap at the Yard House. A dark orange brew, with a subtle/hoppy scent. Did not notice a head in mine, the taste is tough to describe. I would have to say it is a strong and bitter hops one with a bit of tangy fruit. Not my favorite, but an interesting change of pace.

Pours a cloudy orange with a slight head. Aroma of hops and sour water. Taste is a little sweet caramel with a bitter hops aftertaste. Decent alcohol content that allows you to sit back and enjoy this beer.

12 oz bottle from Crystal Liquor Barrel. Cloudy orange pour with a huge foamy head. Aroma is malty and slightly hoppy. It reminds me of an IIPA that has sat around awhile and had its hoppy profile start shifting to a more malty balance. Flavor is malty with some citrus/fruity notes to it. Finish is a clean and slightly hoppy feeling on your tongue. I love the uniqueness of this beer, not what I expected but in a very good way.

Copper color. Aroma of malt and floral hops. Really good balance on the palate with some nice bitterness from the hops.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2010 355mL bottle. Pours a translucent pale amber with a small head. Biscuity, citrusy floral aroma. Flavours much the same, medium sweetness and bitterness and a bit of alcohol. Medium-full bodied, soft carbonation and slick on the palate with a bitter finish.
