Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Unbelievable that I haven’t rated this yet. Awesome beer, great citrusey hop flavor, perfect malt and bittering hop balance.

Pours amber with white foam. This has a nice dry finish with a balanced hop-malt flavor. Highly carbonated, but quite nice, with a strong bitter finish.

22 oz bottle. Pours a burnt orange with thin white head. Great sweet, nutty flavor with a dry hop finish. Nicely balanced. Really liked this.

Hoppy aroma of toffeish-malts, orange, lemon. Malty, orange-fruity flavor finishes quite bitter.

Halloween Growler: Murky amber in color w/ a small, soapy off-white head that leaves a nice little curtain of lacing behind. Aroma is of sweet caramel w/ a hint of piney hops. Sweet malty flavor, mostly caramel w/ a slight hop bitterness that sneaks up on you. Syrupy sweet coating/aftertase lingers on & on. Not bad, but drinking more than one will be a chore for me...very sweet.

pours a hazy amber color with nice tan head. malty air in the aroma. there was a touch a sweetness in the taste that was off-putting to me. not a bad beer, but i am not sure what the brewer was trying to accomplish.

I have had this beer many times before but have never rated it. It’s usually my standby when encountering a limited selection. There is a refreshing, fruity quality to this brew, with a moderately dry, hoppy finish. This would be a great summertime beer if you were in the mood for an IPA alternate. I can smell the grilled chicken with the lime, chili pepper rub now. Viva el hombre de la muerte.

very hoppy - cloudy - some citrusy flavors that linger on the tongue... had it at a bar in new brunswick
