Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

I have enjoyed this beer in the bottle for years and only occasionally on draft when I found my way down south. Now it is on tap in Vancouver at the alibi and it’s certainly the star of the show. Red and sweet and malty - maybe not a session beer but one I’ll be having a lot of until the keg runs out. Brilliant.

Appearance: Dark orangy-red brown. Little bit of head. Aroma: Not much, actually. Bit of fruit and malt. Taste: Sweet and some bitterness. Earthy aftertaste. Info: 650ml bottle, 7/6-2008, 193/500

pours rich golden amber, malty and sweet honey on the nose. quite decent on the palate, not overly carbonated. Nice sweetness in flavour and relatively smooth finish. overall not overly impressed (perhaps because I was looking forward to trying it). It is a decent brew but nothing that stands out.

bottle: Amber in colour. Sweet aroma maybe a bit of honey and you can tell there will be some malty taste...and there is, plus a tiny amount of hops. Didn’t excite me too much.

Excellent bronze pour with foamy head. Malty aroma-wet grass/flowers. Very prominent carbonation feel. Sweet molasses flavor with a lingering bitter finish. Actually was a bit too sweet for my taste.

Finially time to review on of the first craft beers I ever had. Pours amber with a dissapating head. Nice malty aroma with hints of caramel, spice, and very sweet. Mouthfeel is thick with little carbonation. Caramel and malt in the flavor with a nice sweet malt finish. Another nice brew from Rogue.
