trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA May 29, 2008 Pours dark amber with little to no head. Aroma of light malts, caramel and a bit of herbal hops. Also a bit of chlorine. That one took me a while to nail, but it’s definitely that all-too familiar hotel hot tub smell. The flavor is milder than I expected - this would work really well as an eisbock (frozen/concentrated), but as is, it seems diluted. Luckily the chlorine didn’t translate to the flavor - caramel malts and citrus rind, with floral / herbal hops on the back end. Palate is disappointing - I want this to be thicker. Not bad, but certainly not worth the price. JK54B (913), Helsinki, Finland May 25, 2008 Light brown colour. Beautiful nose. Soft taste including lemon and grapefruit. A really nice beer with a nice bite of hops in the end. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA May 25, 2008 Updated: Jun 6, 2008As white crane - bitter, deep, and luxurious. As Dead guy ale. Dead simple. Nice lace, head and body as White crane, but very nice as White crane.

If this beer is indicitive of Maibock then this isn’t my style at all and I will stay away for a bit. From the first sip I regretted buying this. It seemed overcarbonated too - not tons of little bubbles but lots of big ones. The taste was just not good for me. tylerss20 (101), New Hampshire, USA May 23, 2008 This is that perfect beer I’ve been looking for. Let’s be honest, even beer gurus need a brew on occasion that is NOT insanely hop driven, over-the-top ABV, nor sweetened like dessert. We just need a good solid option. Enter stage left, Dead Guy Ale. This may be the most well-balanced beer I’ve had. It opens and closes with bread, and never are the hops overpowering, nor is it potbellied in malt. It is remarkably clean, but still complex. Not overly carbonated. Excellent with food. It is what macros pretend to be: clean, well-adjusted. The difference being this brew accomplishes with flying colors. RedSox2004 (353), Pacific Palisades, California, USA May 23, 2008 Reddish, honey color with a one-finger head that left a film throughout. Aromas of bread and malts, very little hops. Taste is the same, includes a bit of fruit - not citrus, more like pear. Medium to full bodied, very smooth and drinkable, nicely carbonated. NJJereme (261), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA May 23, 2008 I was a little disappointed in this one and I am generally more than pleased w/ Rogue’s products. Pours into a nice hazy, copper color with a nice fluffy white/off-white head. Has notes of carmel with a roasted flavor on the finish. It is a little flat, perhaps I expected it to have a little more texture and bitterness and perhaps a larger floral/citrus bouquet? Not bad, but not great either. noid1985 (49), Broadview, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 12oz bottle poured a honey gold with a malty aroma, very dry and bitter...overall it just isn’t my kind of beer.
