Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

12oz bottle poured a honey gold with a malty aroma, very dry and bitter...overall it just isn’t my kind of beer.

Bottle. Hazy orange to brown beer with small white head. Rich malty aroma with aromatic hops. Some sweet fruity notes. Bitter finish. Flavor is bitter and very malty, though not sweet. Good hoppy bite in the finish. Full bodied and bitter palate with long finish. Thick mouthfeel thanks to malts. Matiness and bitter are in good balance. Overall a very malty and bitter beer with with enjoyable mouthfeel.

I must have been unfortunate with this bottle, bought @ Knightly Spirits in Orlando in February 08 and drunk in UK. There was no head, the beer poured a hazy red colour and lacked any discernable taste. This is the first US beer which has failed to impress and not typical of other Rogue Ales I have drunk.

~Pours a cloudy golden amber colour with white disappearing head. ~Sweet and caramel malt aroma, a bit of spiciness. ~Taste is sweet and raisiny. Starts like honey and ends a little salty. ~Feels a little thick, but smooth. Abrupt finish. ~I normally don’t like sweet beers, but this one is pretty good. Sweetness takes me right to the edge of being too overbearing. Interesting beer.

Interesting flavor mix - my first maibock. Maltiness is a bit more present but still blended well. Hops still there in the nose and on the finish, leaving a slightly dry palate. More drinkable than most stronger, hoppier pale ales, but still in that taste theme minus some hoppiness.

Loved this beer. Aroma was very nice, very fruity. Flavor was malty at first, but well balanced. Really, really easy to drink. Very smooth, very enjoyable taste. Highly recommended.

Clear amber with a fresh, citrus hop aroma. Classic ale flavor. Smooth, rich flavor with mild bite. Very enjoyable and fun to serve friends.

Golden honey color wearing a nice white cap. Hop then more malt hits my nose. Nice even palate. Flavors are arranged evenly. A well made brew. Nothing overdone, nothing missing. Like a special bitter. The younger, deader brother to Brutal bitter. Probably a better session beer.
