kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Apr 19, 2008 My firts rogue product. Nice aroma clean crisp color. Flavor was moderate hops and overall a good ale. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Apr 18, 2008 Pours a cloudy orange, almost like a heavy hefeweizen. Pretty. Light, but steady cabonation. At first glance it almost looks like a chick beer. Smells sweet. Hard to taste anything else. Very syrupy and fairly heavy. just caught a taste of something fruity (ignoring the beer club members’ gay jokes). Interesting beer, but nothing I would buy again if I saw it on tap. It’s just so sweet... rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 18, 2008 Pours a hazy orange / brown color with a small white soapy head. Aroma of malt, hops, citrus and caramel. Taste is hops, malt, yeast, citrus, quite a bit of sweetness battle the formerly mentioned elements and they sorta just make friends when they go down the hatch. This beer was one of my "gateway" craft beers, and while it isn’t amaizng it is a pretty solid and well done brew. donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA Apr 16, 2008 Poured a deep amber with minimal white head.
Smelled of caramel malts and hops primarily, underlying hints of citrus.
Taste was similar to the scent, the hops make an appearance at the beginning and end of the taste, malts and fruits hitting you in the middle.
The hops left my mouth a little bitter and a little dry.
Definately drinkable, certainly not a bad ale.
I’d heard good things about Dead Guy Ale, and though it didn’t quite live up to all the hype (IMO), it was certainly worthy of some praise.
Serving type: bottle NeoHippie2 (173), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 16, 2008 Pours a hazy amber. On the nose, it has aromas or bread, honey, and malts. Nice malty flavor with a balance of hops to it. Almost a floral/honey character with this one. I really enjoyed this beer. There is only one drawback to it: $13 for six beers. Thats a bit steep in my book. Anyways, solid brew and i would recommend it and i probably would drink it more often if it were not for the price. smith4498 (825), Miami, Florida, USA Apr 16, 2008 Pours clear copper with fluffy off white head. Aromas of bread dough, malt and honey. Big malt flavor and some sweetness. Medium body with mild carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. A pretty good maibock. smashteroid (227), USA Apr 13, 2008 I’m not a huge fan of this beer. It is the most accessible Rogue Ale, but I’m always wishing (when I come across a store that only carries Dead Guy) that something ELSE was their flagship brew. It pours amber with an off-white head. The aroma is very sweet. The taste was too sweet for me, with a lot of citrus flavors. I wish I liked it more, but I don’t. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Apr 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber/orange with a big off-white head. Sweet aroma. Floral hops and malt. Becomes candy-like as it warms. Has a weird note – reminds me of chlorine when used in swimming pools, but it doesn’t actually smell like chlorine. As it warms, it turns into a more spicy note. Flavour is sweet with notes of raisins, bread and milk. Finish is sweeter than the initial flavour. Notes of prunes. Lingering bitterness as well as milky notes. That weird chlorine-thing is here as well. Don’t really know what to make of this… It’s not bad, but doesn’t really do anything for me. But could do without the milky notes. Hmm… 13-04-08.
